AI Attacking assinged aircraft

Anyone got any advice on AI assingned to "intercept bombers" going after fighters instead? In my BoB missions the Hurri's are assigned to attack bombers and Spits the fighters (intercept all) but the Hurris seem to go after the fighters more than the bombers. Is this a placement setting when spawned or perhaps an ETA thing I must watch more carefully? When one of your mission goals is to protect the bombers it's a little too easy when the Hurris get chewed up by the fighters before even going after the bombers LOL. HELP!!

Just so I'm clear, we are NOT talking about wingmen correct.

it could be a timing or placement issue. I think the fighter will attack what ever the threat is to themselves. you can space them out more and see if that helps. Or let the Spits get into the fur ball then have a trigger to spawn the bombers and the Hurries.

or

Make the Player Fly the Hurries, that way you have control of where they go (Kind of). Once the Fighting starts they will be scattered to the wind. With you leading that group you can still keep the focus on your targets. Hopefully the Spits will Hold their end.

Now on the other end of it. (sorry i read your post wrong) if you have the hurries spawn after the player engages the fighters (Spits) and in the opposite direction. you could get the hurricanes to attack the bombers only. make the Spits come in at 10 O'Clock. then have the Hurries come in at 3 or 4 O'Clock.

Its better to have area triggers and spawns then trying to time things. Though you could have the Spits timed then just have the Hurries spawn. give a little cloud cover to add to the surprise factor.

not sure if this helps. let me know how it goes.

Ken,

Separation is the key. Have the Spitfires lead the attack and draw the Bf-109s and Bf-110s off. Then, have the Hurricanes come in as the second wave, only have the Hurricanes intercept the bombers at a point one minute further in the bomber's flight path direction from the intercept point where the Spitfires intercepted the German fighters.

Rami,

I thought spacing might have something to do with it. I'll start spacing and testing this evening. You are correct, I'm talking about spawning AI Spits and Hurris when the player is flying 109's covering the bombers (Stukas, HE-111's ect) or when the player is flying Spits covering the Hurris. Some of my BOB RAF mission are player flying Hurris attacking bombers with AI Spit covering you so these mission aren't really a problem. I just keep telling my wingmen to rejoin, blowing past the 109's till we get to the bombers. I have many of your BOB campaigns and I'll look to them for spacing ideas. Thanks for the quick reply as always.
