I'm messing around with my old ORCA idea again. I ended up scrach building my own model to do away with the edited C&C Renegade model.

Thing seem to be fine give how much abused the flight dynamics. I'm using aircraft flight dynamics with 2 piston engines. I want to convet over to Jet engines but I seem to have probs. I know there is some bug with FS2000 engines so I didn't use them and went with FS98 jet engines.

The AI is fine flying around above me on and around the carrer but seem to go blank at attacking ground targets. Some times they make one pass than go brain dead. They slowly drop ALT and hit the ground/water. I can see that they are pulling back on the stick. The elevators are tied to the engines in the ORCA model and they are pulling back about 15 degrees or so but the seem to not have any engine power.
 
sounds to me like its stalling. try lowering the MOI. AIs don't like high MOI values. Try dropping them by half and see if that helps.
 
Already tied messing with MOI. The AI flys and dogfights better than the A6M2 Zero that I made the ORCA .air file from with FS98 jets. It flys and attack ground targets fine with prop engines but chokes with at ground attack with FS98 jets.

Can you post a copy of the Air and cfg. I'd like to see what you have.

try the Meteor from FFKW see if that is any different.

do you have and entry 1002?
 
It is setup as a STOL aircraft. The flaps give massive lift so I can take off at 20 knots and almost hover at 20 knots. The controlls are hypersensitive at 0 to 40 knots and let it drift but don't fall below 10 knots or it will stall. Once above 80 knots controlls are the same as the A6M2 Zero.

Tips: NOT a good idea to use flaps above 90 knots. It will yank the nose up. Use the Spoiler so slow your self down than flap once. Add more flap as speed drops.

Taking off with full flaps it is NOT a good idea to pull the flaps all they way up tell 80 to 90 knots. If you do you will drop like a stone.

Dude that is a wild machine.

I did notice that I tended to crab to the right alot when the flaps where set to 25%-37%. Also she doesn't like to come down.

You know its not set to mono-plane correct. Not sure if that has anything to do with anything.

might need a new air file just for a ground attack. I think what might be happening is the nose down attitude becomes too steep then the AI can't pull up.

you only have 2000lbs +/- of thrust per engine, Is that enough?

there was something about the flaps that AIs don't like. I can't remember what it was.

If you can get it sorted out then that will be a crazy assult platform.

Thrust is okay to me. It goes 365 knots/ 419 MPH at sea level.

It is sorted out as prop aircraft but not working as a jet.

what if you made it a turbo prop?
 
Don't even know if CFS2 will support a turbo prop and if it dose what sound dose AI aircraft make? Prop or Jet?

EDIT: Don't work at all. Same warp bug I seen with FS2000 Jet engines because I have to use FS2000 Jet engines with a turboprop. AI dose not make any engine sound and plant it self into the ground like it dosn't have engines at all. At lest with FS98 jet engines it could fly and dogfight...

Also as player aircraft 50% of the time the engines won't start as a turboprop!

If I understand correctly perhaps have both FS2000 Turbine sections and the FS98 Jet section (section 600 using AirEd utility) in the same Air file. That should get you the engine(s) and sound for player and AI. I do not know of the fix though for the no-warp bug for a CFS2 aircraft using the jet turbine.
 
I've tried the FS98 and FS2k together, by accident, and still had the bug. I think the FS2k might overide the other. couldn't hurt to try.

OH I set the flaps to full. man endless back flips. well untill you crash that is.

Yup. AI also plant it self into the ground like it dosn't have engines at all just like with turboprops. Maybe Talon can shed some light on things as I recall he was working with jets.

Stalled. You can fly on full flaps but you need full power from both engines.
 
i don't know diddle about.........

........setting these things up but have you guys tried looking at the E2C aircraft? It is a tubo and I tool around in it alot, when I can, just for practice on traps.
