AI Staggerwing Paints

I've just uploaded something I've been meaning to do for a few years - a repaint pack for Bill Lyons' AI Staggerwing Beech.

At least five of Bill Lyons' packages contain an AI Staggerwing Beech, and the same plane appears all over the world of Golden Wings 3. It always wears the same paint job, dark red with white trim. Long ago I got tired of seeing that same old dark red Staggerwing in so many places, but I never found the time to repaint it and then sprinkle the new paints throughout the world of GW3. While David is dealing with a difficult part of our current project (a Gee Bee C8 "Eightster") I took a few minutes and whipped up these new skins for that old Staggerwing.

There are six colors: Red (brighter than the original), Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and White (Cream, really) with black, white or red trim as appropriate for the main color.

Here's a picture of the yellow one. I didn't go prowling all through GW3 to find each color for a screenie, so this one will have to give you some idea how they look.

Nice. I was going to say that there already was a yellow one, but that turns out to be the Waco. Is there a filename to look for, please?

I've already forgotten the abbreviated file name I used for the uploaded copy, but when it appears on the latest files list it will be easily identifiable, the title is something like AI Staggereing Paints. I expect it should appear sometime later today.

Wow, thanks, Mick. :ernae:
I'd been hoping someone would do this. The Wacos need a little sprucing, too, but, at least there are a few more colors on them.

Now all I have to do is work out which AI Staggerwing is which - I seem to have at least three incarnations in my aircraft folder!

Yeah, and they're all dark red. Actually, there are five or six Lyons packages with different incarnations of that same Staggerwing, and they're all the same color.

You can just put a different repaint in each one's texture folder; that's the easiest way to do it. Put your favorite color in the GW one, since it shows up everywhere. That way you'll get some variety even without going in and doing a lot of traffic file editing.

Yes, I thought of that, just relabeling one texture without the colour name for each one. I think I'll probably put all of them in all of the aircraft, edit the aircraft.cfg to allow them if I want to edit traffic later on, and just rename one in each to act as the default for a start.
