AICarriers, dll and exe

I've managed to get the net version of AICarriers running in P3d v3, largely by trial and error, but I am still puzzled by some of the installation instructions which I have seen. The Prepar3d v3 folders in the AppData and ProgramData both contain an exe.xml and a dll.xml, and I ended up using the exe one in ProgramData, but what is the difference? All four seem to be pretty similar in what they are doing.

Actually, I thought it was the files in AppData/Roaming that had to be edited.

It does seem on my system that both locations contain valid entries. I have no idea why there are two locations either.


Edit: Now I do. I just learned something new. Apparently both locations are valid, so one or the other can be used, at least as far as the P3D V3 program is concerned. Other 3rd party products may look for an entry in one or the other.

Interesting. Thank you. One of the things I wondered about was how SODE was popping up in both.

Did you add something, a plane, a scenery, a gauge, ANYthing that might have altered either of your EXE.XML files?
Did you perhaps edit the one with the AIC entry with a word processor? ANYthing other than NotePad or NotePad++?
Last time you edited it, did you start the editor (whatever it was) with Admin rights?
Could you have accidentally inserted a letter, or character, into the EXE.XML someplace it shouldn't be? Even a space can mess it up if it's in the wrong place.

I don't understand why you sim insists on loosing things you've added to it. You're sure it's not installed in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (X86)? Every thing you do to anything you do as Administrator?
You haven't update Windows or anything like that? Updated a driver of some sort, uninstalled the .NET file required by AICarriers or even just up-dated it? You might try re-installing it, just to see if that's it. The .NET file, not AIC :D Make sure you're running the version called for by the AIC Readme file, not an updated version of it.

Again, just trying to think of any possibility I can. I don't have P3D so I can't be certain I'm covering every base, but I'm trying :D

Mr. Fsafranek, thanks for the vote. I apprecite it. One of these days I'll consolidate it all in one entry, I just need to find time to do it Heh... :dizzy:
