It is in the aircraft.cfg and dp files. Open it in notepad and change it to read whatever you want it to read.

aircraft.cfg:
description=(beta1) P-38H-5-LO. Compared to previous variants, the 'H' offered increased engine power and WEP for the first time. However the full potential of the new engines could not be realized because of the inadequate cooling system. This plane was flow by Lt. Gerald Brown (55th FG). After returning from a tangle with German fighters, Lt. Brown and his crew counted over 100 bullet holes and five cannon shell rips.\nModel by David C. Copley\nVer. 1.0.0 (Project XP-38N Ver. 4.h.1.0)\nXXFeb2003

dp:
[MISC_DATA]
unit_family=1
category=1
allegiance=7
max_group_size=8
min_speed=240
cruise_speed=488
max_speed=732
min_alt=50
cruise_alt=15000
max_alt=45000
entered_service=1/27/39
crew=1

You change either section to read what you want it to show in the aircraft description when you open them on the aircraft for use in freeflight or MB, or select/change aircraft.

I think what Devildog explains is valid for FS2004, but not for CFS2. In CFS2 you will have to open the .air file with Aired or a similar program and change the description and performance data there.

Mission Builder Description

To see the description of a plane in CFS 2 when using the preview window of the Mission Builder, the info is contained in the: "CFS 2 > Info > Descrip.dat file"

You can type in anything you want to describe your plane or library objects.

I.e:

# N1K2J_George
Japanese fighter aircraft (CFS2 object). When selected from the Aircraft list, you can add waypoints to make this plane fly from waypoint to waypoint. When selected from the Infrastructure list, this plane is just scenery and won't move, but can be damaged and destroyed. For detailed information on this aircraft, see the CFS2 Pilot's Handbook or Help.

The title of the plane's folder needs to match the title here as well as the title of the Info screen shot of the plane. When all three match up, you get all the info at once in the preview window of the MB.

Jerm,

AirEd is on Simviation. They appear to be down today, which is unusual.
Perhaps the hackers are after us CFSers again.
