What are some P-51's and P-47's for MAW that you recommend that i may find in the warbirds download section? Would like to have MAW set up for the later part of WWII also.Don't know much about fighter groups or squadrons for that theater. Thanks for any help. Regards,Scott

No,i haven't tried it. Should i wait till the files are sorted out or use now? Does it add the later years to MAW? Don't know anything about it. Cheers,Scott

Go ahead Scott, jump right in, don't be scared!!! What's the worst that could happen, lol Download it and try it!

The files are all present I could just arrange them for easier installation. However it has been downloaded 127 times and no-one has reported particular problems in installing over a stock copy of CFS3.1a.

Well, because it is a stand-alone, what is the worst that can happen, like eddie says :biggrin-new:?

It is set up for the 1943 era, it has early Typhoons, the latest MkV and MkVIII MAW-specific Spitfires, the latest fw190A4, the Hudson, the Beaufort, and all sorts of goodies that are wasted in stock MAW because the eras are only supported by spawn sets going up to 1941.

It is a sandpit for people wanting to install later missions, and not have early war stuff appearing in facilities or on the roads. The 1943 campaign has you flying for the Axis out of Corsica or Crete, and flying for the Allied out of Malta, Sicily or Tunisia.

It has Ankors shaders but you only have to leave out two files and you will be fine - the d3d8.dll and the matching .ini file.

The countries supported are Italy, Germany, Britain, Britain_FAA and USA - quite a lot less than the original MAW, to keep things simple.

Got it downloaded and installed. Tested with the Fw-190A and loved it ! Know what i'm going to stay up late to play. MAW '43 ! Nice and small, fires up fast. Great aircraft selection . Can't wait to try out more on it . Thanks for the heads up . I didn't know this existed . WOW! Easy to install and get running. Regards,Scott

Really like MAW 1943. The only thing i noticed is some planes showing a lot of reflection or shine. Not running the shader package and running Win7 64 bit. Is there some thing i can do to tone it down some? Thanks for any help. Regards,Scott

They're in the shaders.xml which you can edit with notepad. The version provided with MAW 1943 has SpecularEnable="True" and may be the source of you're excessive reflections. If you're not using AnKor's shaders then these entries are the most likely source of your issue, and the versions I show above are taken from the original CFS3 shaders.xml.

Seems as though i've broken my install. Added entry and started sim but CTD after second screen. Now what do i do? Reapplied back up file but still crashes .At a loss...:banghead:

The entries I posted were just so you could find the proper place to make the changes. Double entries would have led to a corrupted file. The format is sensitive to each section starting with < and ending with /> but in that case the game typically pops up a dialog box telling you that the file is not formatted properly as part of the crash.

Glad you saved a back-up. Did you change anything other than replacing the shader.xml file? Crashing at the second screen is sometimes related to missing sound or weapons files for the last aircraft you were flying.

Reinstalled MAW 1943 edited the shaders .xml and sim now runs perfect. Must be a particular aircraft causing problem. Will find out. Thanks for the help as now everything looks good. Regards,Scott

It was a aircraft sound file that was the problem with the CTD . Problem solved and the sim now looks right after editing the shaders .xml. Thanks for the advise. Regards,Scott

I love MAW 1943 ! Added a couple of aircraft but pretty much left alone. Has just about all i could want in a neat, concise package. Thanks for all the hard work and effort. Why is not more known about this expansion ? Did not know it even existed ! Now all we need are some missions for it. Wish we still had the Hobbit master to do them. A very nice expansion. Regards,Scott

It was a aircraft sound file that was the problem with the CTD.

I can confirm the CFS3 is pretty sensitive relating to the sound config. Ive got one airplane add-on for testing, which worked fine when loaded first time ingame - with no sounds. well, who cares. however, when loaded second time Ive got CTD.

so I did some kind of trial-error research and found the issue: the airplane sound config file (path) looked for some AvHistory sound set - which I dont have, of course.

once Ive set the sound config to something defaultly shared (in my case Ju 88 alias), the airplane stopped to cause CTD.
