Aircraft has the jitters...it wants to bounce while sitting still

Somebody help me to remember what line in the aircraft config file that can be changed to usually fix this problem.
Thanks in advance..

Randy

Fixing a bouncing aircraft can be easy, can be a real PITA. It could be the dampening ratio is set too low, or it could be the compression ratio is set to high, or both. Or it could be the static compression is set way off. It's a trial and error kind of thing usually.

Take a look at the three larger (font size) numbers in this line....those are your cuplrits.

point.0 = 1, 0.90, 0.00, -4.09, 1500, 0, 0.5, 22.0, 0.25,2.5, 0.7, 0.0, 0.0, 0

Underlined number is the static compression

Bolded number is the compression ratio.

Italic number is the dampening ratio.

Before making any changes to the contact points, always make a back up copy of the stock aircraft.cfg file. The number of times I messed something up and did not have a back up copy.....oh vey!

Thanks ! I'm off to experiment...

Update: After nearly going blind from staring at my computer, the airplane STILL HAS the JITTERS!
I'm giving up! The airplane flys very good. Maybe it just don't like sitting on the ground...

What plane is it? Who did it, where can it be downloaded from. It is likely that someone has already done the tweaking for the plane...let us know the plane and we will get a fix into your hands.

It can be a real PITA & the cause sometimes unfathomable - some people complain that my aircraft have the jitters, but I obviously do not! I have tried them ( my a/c that are supposed to dance) on some of my old 'puters without success, so the answer can be elusive!
I have been able to reproduce jitters when in the VC, but not from exterior & with the engine running, then when panning it stops........!
Not much help I'm afraid having said all that!!!

The Fairchild PT-19 was a Fairchild Aircraft monoplane primary trainer aircraft that served
with the United States Army Air Forces, as well as with almost all the South America country.
This brand new model has all the animations, vc, panel and 3 textures: Colombian, Venezuelan and Brazilian.

pt19efa from Simvation..

Thanks

Sims seem to vary with this. I have experienced this issue with FS9 and FSX versions, and had some luck increasing the MOI values in the CFG a small amount. Frustrating to have a perfectly behaving plane act up in someone elses sim! This does not mean the designer was an idiot or did not test the plane.

Good luck! T

I've flown Eduardo's PT-19 for quite a while....and can not remember if it has displayed any bouncing in my installs. I will download the original package and see what happens. As fliger747 stated, some planes will simply refuse to behave on one person's computer but work superbly on 1000 other peoples' computers. I have done tweaks on planes that worked perfectly on my system, but had one person state that A does not work right and another person say that A works fine on their system but B does not. People with nearly identical systems, the same sim, the sam add-ons can experience very different things...and no one understands why. It all comes down to the mix of hardware, software, sim settings, position of the moon relative to the cat's litter pan, how many curlers your wife leaves in her hair when she goes to bed, whether you used yellow mustard or brown mustard on your hotdogs, and that sort of stuff. It's a perfect blend of science, art, mathematics and voodoo I think.

Thanks OBIO! I love the way the plane handles in the air

where of course is where we mostly spend our time anyway. Of course, it would be even better if it behaved a little better on the ground. One of the reasons for wanting a PT-19 is that I have a 60 inch wingspan radio controlled model that is a blast to fly.

Dunno if it's the same ....

And also a airfile modified ....

No more jitters...

Thanks to all you guys who helped I now have a really decent PT-19.

Navtech, the airfile seems to help a lot. I did have to make one small change in the config file to keep the engine running.

OBIO, Your post also helped as even with the new airfile, I still had to make a few small changes to the config file.

And also to the rest of you guys who gave me encouragement......Thanks to All.

Randy

rdaniel -m I had the same problem with the plane. Tim sent me a new CFG setup and fixed it in a jiffry! Glad you got yours sorted out. Happy Skies.

Andersel, would you mind posting your aircraft config file settings?
I just would like to do a comparsion.

Thanks

Give me about 10 minutes to take the dogs out for a potty and I will zip up the config and air file that I tweaked for the PT-19.

OBIO

Okay, here's a zip with the tweaked air and config files for the PT-19. You will need to copy and paste over the upper part of your current aircraft.cfg file...the part with the various paints and such. And make sure that the sim= line uses the same name as the air file in the zip.

OBIO that fixed everything. :applause: Prior to installing your attachment, I was still having a couple very minor issues.

THANKS A BUNCH. :guinness:
