Aircraft mismatch error

MTG196

aka: Warthog
I've been having a little trouble when hosting lately. A coworker of mine has recently installed ETO v1.2 and we have been trying out multiplayer. We seem to get an awful lot of aircraft mismatch errors when he tries to join my game. We have had this problem with ETO and Stock CFS3. I can get it to work IN ETO only when i select very few aircraft.

Any one have any ideas?

Vista???

But:
both of you must have the same set of planes, so no joy between stock CFS3 and ETO or any other addon. Maybe a small selection of allowed planes (one plane just to begin) instead of all planes allowed could also help.

cheers

My friend is running Vista, I am running XP. We both have vanilla installs of CFS3.1a and we each have clean installs of ETO1.2.

He followed all of the instructions with regard to the vista issues during his install and his ETO runs perfectly.

I am aware of the issues with the boston and whitley and have made sure that they were de-selected while hosting and we got an aircraft mismatch error. We were able to connect via ETO when I selected only a few aircraft.

With Stock CFS3 we could not connect at all. We kept getting aircraft mismatch errors.

I have no idea where the problem might be.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

:kilroy:MTG196, the only time I have seen partial mismatches like this in ETO are when all players don't really have ETO 1.20 installed properly.

Make sure 1.20 was into 1.0, and not inside it. The very same holds true for installing 1.0 with Stock 3.1a CFS3. Make sure one of you didn't install ETO inside CFS3. So look inside your CFS3 install and see if you see a folder named CFS3 ETO Expansion. Do the same with your ETO installs.

One more thing, try to join again and write down the plan names that are mismatching and post them here. Try to get them exactly as they are on the mismatch message.

Also make sure that your BDP Zappers haven't been quarantined by your AV programs. Even if they're not recoverable, there is an easy way to delete the BDPs.

Another idea is to set up another online game and let me know when so that I can join and have a look myself.:d

Just a guess:

Did both of you update properly CFS3?

First the 3.1 patch, then the 3.1a patch from the Microsoft site?

Cheers

Perhaps you could try and isolate the problem by hosting here and see how it behaves. If you host generates mismatches for us here then for sure it's a config issue on your end. If not then it may be an Vista config error at his end.
