Hi,
I am completely new to CFS3 and Firepower but I was keen to have a bomber simulator to play with and despite being bit of an antique it seems this is the only way to get one.

I have bought both CFS3 and Aircraft Powerpack (for Firepower) brand new. Having insatlled CFS3 I used the MS web site to update it to v3.1a and having installed Firepower every bomber simply makes the screen flicker and says Miision Failed to Load. I have tried complete uninstalls and reinstalls to no avail and also updated Firepower to 1.7 and 1.8 but no joy. I have a brand new Sony VAIO Laptop (NVidia T9600 Graphics) running windows VISTA and the original CFS3 components run well at the highest resolution and detail levels. I have hunted the web high and low for hints and help with no luck, only indication of similar failures seem to be for other third party add ons and the answer is always to fly an ordinary quick mission before returning to the new aircraft which some people find fixes it, but this does not help me at all.

Sa really because I was keen to get Over Flanders Field too but I suspect I will have just the same problem, can anyone please help me

Hey, Bob... welcome. :ernae:
One thing you need to find is your Windows application data... In it, under Microsoft Games--Combat Flight Simulator 3 -- you'll find a file called "uisel.xml"
delete this and cfs3 will generate a new one. This is one of the most widely used 'quick fixes' people try...
Hope this helps

on my rig its "...Application Data\Microsoft\Combat Flight Simulator 3.0\uisel.xml" BUT,
I'm still on WIN98se so yours will undoubtedly be different... cheers

Bob,

I hope popsaka's plan does work. This is unusual since I do have the Aircraft Powerpack myself which I previously had installed on my HP Pavilion Entertainment Laptop with Vista as the OS.

Have you also ran a Quick Combat with one of these planes?

Also, you may want to set CFS3 under as "XP (Service Pack 2) compatible mode" and "run as the admininstrator" (under Properties). These settings do solve some various problems as well.

Also, be aware of the Firepower P-51D "Mustang".. It does not have brakes!! I had created a 'fix' for that as well as tweaking the stall issue which can be accessed from this link:

Good Luck.

:Banane09::Banane33::Banane35:popsaka, Deadmeat,

Guys thank you so much big time, it looks like the XP Service Pack and Administrator changes fixed it for me. Thank you so much again for taking the time to help, you guys are stars!!! Everything is running fine so I guess it is time for me to learn the game and enjoy, I have loved WWII Bomber sims since the days of Intellivison's B 17 Bomber (showing my age). I can also safely buy 'Over Flanders Fields' now and get to grips with all the wonderful add ons that you clever shaps all seem to produce, BIG thanks again, have a great Easrer
