Akemi Kawasaki KI-61's quick mod

Hi,

That's the modified air files for the two models in attachement
It's a quick mod .....
Those planes will now fly straight level at their max power at sea level with trim at + - neutral position
For take off .. it's a trade :)
You need two notches flaps and a lot of positive trim (3/4 up)
When plane roll straight level you can rotate.
After take off retract landing gear ... ajust flaps and trim as needed :)

The aircraft config files for the Ki-61s are some of the barest I have ever seen. No information at all on wing span, wing surface area, cord, tail area, no fuel, no max weight. I am going to have a very lengthy task to get this plane set up properly...if I can achieve it at all.

It is not mandatory to set these things in the aircraft.cfg. Remember that the air file contains all of this. The aircraft.cfg, if the values are present, will override the values in the air file.

So, you can go straight to the air file to get the values you need for the cfg file, or turn on the editable=1 in the General section to see if FS will flesh out the cfg for you. However, if the air file in incorrect, I guess then it is a start from scratch project.

Also, if you understand how to use FSEdit the right way, you can run the aircraft FM through that and it will correct any issue. Donet believe the naysayers on FSEdit. It screws things up only if you do not use it correctly.

Also, you can simply run it through the Airwrench program to square it up.

Hey Tim,

I can assure you the Tony is worth the efforts. Morton did already quite some work on this one in the past. He has made a great 2D panel for those who want it and he has converted quite some IL2 textures for it.

Cheers,
Huub

I had forgotten that Air Wrench write the info in the air file to the config file....I opened the air file to write down the info I needed....and I remembered just how powerful a tool Air Wrench can be when used properly...not that I know what that means.

I have the Ki-60 KO in the shop now. Have the fuel locations and amounts adjusted to the best info I could find...that made a world of difference in the plane's flight behavior. It is a bit twitchy on the controls...like the elevator effectiveness needs turned back a bit.

Huub,

Thanks for reminding me about the skins and panel that Morton did for these planes....will have to grab them and get them installed into plane...especially the panel....the stock one hurts my eyes.

Tim

I understood that Huub; I was thanking you for reminding us just how beautiful they are and that they exist here.

Hi,

and here are the repaints

Unfortunately .... the link provided is a dead link

I checked also some other links from Morton .. and all dead.

will have to grab them and get them installed into plane...especially the panel....the stock one hurts my eyes.

The panel link is alive

I have found a set of airfiles on a back up CD; they're either from Henry or Fliger747 I think, and have been posted here when the Ki-61 was just released, and I found a Bananabob prop texture too:

Thanks Ferry, I knew Henry and/or Tom had worked on the airfiles, but I think the files were posted in a post. Because I wasn't able to find them.

Cheers,
Huub

Have had this bird for a long time in FS9. In my opinion, she is the best looking Japanese aircraft of WWII. Some screenshots here ...
