Alabeo Piper Tomahawk released

I got the email also and it looks to be tremendous value at £15,
but I am trying to save for ORBX Global which is £60,
o bugger something will have to wait awhile me thinks!.

I noticed that once again the requirements do not include Windows XP.
If someone with XP buys it, please let me know if any problems.
Thanks.

Couldn't wait, bought and loaded. works fine on my XP.
Bit of shimmer on top of dash, expect that's to represent reflections.

Like it.

Screwed up the aussie reg... VH-XGZ on the side... VX-XGZ on the wing :D smooth :p

Btw, first alabeo/carenado aircraft to include PSD files... they're flat, but they're uncompressed goodness :D Nice one. Looks to be a fairly easy one to paint too...

Shall I rush it?

I'm very tempted by this one because of the plane it is. The flight dynamics of the other Alabeo aircraft I have really don't impress me though (Waco, both Ag planes, GeeBee). They are pretty, but not deep. I've kind of sworn off anymore Alabeo. I wonder how this one stands with respect to its flight model. If it were good, that would tip me over, I think.

Stunning visuals! As long as it doesn't fall out of the sky too easily it'll do for me.

Bernt Stolle did it... nuff said really. It stalls and spins perfectly, good handling and enjoyable little tourer/trainer.
No frame rate hit I can detect...
No horrendous alpha like Carenado's latest ones
Great textures... and great mapping for painting.
All that needs to work... works... no engine start issues or sound, starts well, great sound pack, even the sound of the tail flapping just before she stalls... Its really really nice.

Suggest to simply forget the Tomahawk. It has the same unimpressive flight dynamics as their Waco, both Ag planes, GeeBee, Extra, D17 and the Su26 update.

Looking at the Alabeo website of all the planes they have released, I would have to guess that it is a good one.
It's three dollars more than anything else they have sold.

Really? I thought you said you'd done it? you don't do unimpressive...

He was being sarcastic...

And, to be fair, it's been a while since I've flown any of them, and it might not be their flight dynamics that disappoint. There is something, though, in those aircraft that leaves me wanting more. Maybe it's the lack of system depth, maybe its something else. I probably should have just said that something about them doesn't satisfy and left it at that. It could well be that their flight models are the best part of them. The GeeBee is certainly a beast to handle and fly, which seems faithful to the original.

I think I'll take a flight in several of them again and see what I think.

So....the Tomahawk stalls and spins correctly, you say? None of the other Alabeo aircraft I just flew again do. Of course, most FSX aircraft don't spin at all, and most don't really stall correctly either. It would be a strong selling feature if the Tomahawk does.

Bin flying since 9:00pm over ORBX lands with a pretty aeroplane...life is good!

was also waiting for this one. My first Alabeo product. About to take-off from Friday Harbour. Shall report back...

It looks very nice, no doubt a nice FDE done by Bernt. I'll probably have to wait on it, I just had to replace one of my harddrives and I am saving for the big PMDG purchase. I have so many great GAs in my inventory already it would be hard to justify another. Perhaps someday tho. :)

Hey Bernt were you ever able to hook up with TeaSea for his Piper Archer info? It would be really awesome if you could get a chance to update the Carenado Archer's FDE. It is otherwise a very nice little plane, just could use a little FDE tuning. I really enjoy it for basic IFR navigation refresher flying. If it helps, I have a Piper Cadet POH, which is basically the same as a Piper Warrior.

Cheers
TJ

That VC looks great.
Might have to get this one.
I love Bernt's FDEs.

but I think I'm more excited now that the R-66 is getting nearer... :jump:
