Albatross! Albatross! I haven't got any ice cream, just got this Albatross!

SOH-CM-2023
If you haven't flown the Albatross in FS2024, you're missing out. It's got to be the most lovingly crafted new plane in the sim, and SU1 includes a number of enhancements requested by the community (which makes me wonder how much leeway contract developers actually do have to improv their MS-funded planes) such as the solid radome Coast Guard version, external tanks, RCAF paint, and more. The changelog for the latest version is about as long as the SU1 changelog, and the plane was already great!

Mike Johnson, the author, has also made an updated manual available.

The flight model, the systems (glass and steam panels), the effects, etc. are all top notch. He even added an anchor system in the update. Seriously, in free flight mode in the Albatross, I feel good about my MSFS2024 investment.

Also, Johnson is a VR user, so the cockpit is great in VR.

I LOVE this airplane— Mike Johnson has done a WONDERFUL job on this baby. However, there is no paint kit available…and apparently MS/Asobo will only permit “licensed” repaints— whatever THAT means. Would love to see a variety of liveries for the military variant…but there is only the RCAF repaint provided with the latest update. What a kick in the head.

Definitely one of the stand-out aircraft in MSFS2024's default line-up. Credit to Mike Johnson for introducing the community's requested enhancements; there's nothing nicer than a listening and responsive developer. I really hope to see more of his work in the future.

That's only referring to "included" paints -- MS makes sure everything is legally approved.

There's already a repaint on flightsim.to of N211MC.

Good to know...Happy to be wrong in this case. Hopefully more repaints will appear.
