Hello all,
I've noticed that most of the CFS3 aircraft out there usually come with assorted Help, Readme and File_ID files...
Do they really need to be installed along with the aircraft in the main CFS3 directory?
Are they needed for the game to actually function? Or are they little tidbits of info for the pilot to read in his spare time?
All takers welcome to answer....
It all depends what you want to do with the aircraft. If you're installing them in your own game for personal use perhaps the only files that are required to fly the aircraft are the help files, because in some occasions there's a link inside the xdp file to the help files. It's your personal choice to install the readmes and other files like pics etc.
When you want to upload standalones you have several options....
- In case of a stock aircraft you don't need to include help files, because they're already in everybody's install. Just make sure you add the correct link in the xdp file.
It's up to you to decide if you want to include extra readme files or background information about the paintscheme/pilot/unit
- In case of a standalone of a 3rd party aircraft (non-stock aircraft) I'd say it's wise to include the help files, because you cannot expect that everybody has the original aircraft installed.
It's more or less protocol to include the original readmes and pics (the extra files the designer included in the original upload) and it's up to you to decide if you want to include your own files with background information about paintscheme/pilot/unit in your upload.
When I upload an standalone of an aircraft or ship I create a docs and pics folder and put all readmes and pics in that folder
If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask
