All my addon scenery is gone???

SOH-CM-2024
Now this is totally weird. I am still using 3.3xx. I never upgraded to 3.4 because as soon as I upgrade LM is guaranteed to come out with another fix or update. Anyway, I have all of Orbx's regions and the LC and vector stuff for the US and Canada. I also have a dozen or so addon airports that I use.

Well, come Sept 21th and PD3 changed to Fall. I noticed that a series of canals which I use to line up on Rwy 34 KARA, my home airport were gone. At first I didn't pay much attention because I was testing an airplane and was just flying short sorties. Today, I thought Orbx had an error with the Fall version of their landclass in my area of Louisiana. To make sure I switched the date back to August. Still no canals?

I then began to dig into the scenery cfg and found that everything has been reverted back to default. I no longer have airport one or any of the Orbx addon stuff. Even the Toposim LC is missing.

I haven never saved a copy of the scenery cfg. Didn't figure I needed to. I can readd the other scenery, but why did it all disappear? I have never seen this before in any version of MSFS or PD3 before. I don't like not knowing why something happens.

Anyone else ever experience this?

P.S. Since I need to redo the scenery, I might just go and upgrade to 3.4. So, look out, here comes a LM hotfix.

I also looked at the Add Scenery popup in PD3. No add on scenery shows there either.

System Drive(eg C):/ProgramData/Lockheed Martin/Prepar3D v3

This folder will contain your current as well as any backup scenery.cfg files. Most programs create a backup before a new scenery is installed. Just find the most recent back up and copy and rename it Scenery.cfg.

Cheers,

Thanks for the advice Scott. That was the first place I looked. I had no backups? I have re-installed Global, Vectors, LCNA and some airports. That is all I need for the time being. I will re-install the regions as needed.

I still don't know what happened? That concerns me a little.

Hi John,

Strange. You shouldn't need to reinstall anything if it just concerns your Scenery.cfg. Has all of your scenery disappeared from the P3D installation also? Have a look in your P3D/ORBX folder, is all the scenery still in there?

Usually just starting FTX Central and using the Insertion Point tool will automatically populate your Scenery.cfg with all the correct ORBX entries. In fact I think it may even do so without using the Insertion Point tool.

Cheers,

The scenery is there. The links to the scenery.cfg is what is missing. I was able to easily relink the local airports in the addon scenery folder. However, Orbx is much more complicated. Rather than risk messing it up, I just re-installed. Later, I might look at the Orbx references in the scenery.cfg and see if it is worth trying to just relink the regions and airports.

I have backed up the cfg file, in case it happens again. I just wish I knew what set all the scenery back to default only?

John, if the scenery.cfg file in C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3 is deleted or corrupt , P3D will create a pristine one when it starts (same as with any other .cfg file in that directory or with the prepar3dd.cfg).

I am sure that is what happened. Well, something else to back up. :)
