I know, we won't get political here, but I just watched the new President of America getting sworn into office. Aretha Franklin sang the national hymn with a moved timbre in her voice, and I could see, the people were really deeply moved. Coloured people cried tears of joy; some stated, that they had never believed to live to see this happen.
Walking into a church, the new President looked like he is fully aware of the resposability, the expectations. But he looks wide awake and fit to move quite something. To the better, I hope.
I wish you all good luck over there - we can get it done; together.

Obama is an idiot he has'nt done squat EVER! the fact that people buy into his hysteria boggles my mind to no end.I guess I shouldn't really be surprised people have been getting their mind bent by the media since the first caveman learned to scribble on a rock:focus:

Thanks for the kind words Olham, but it's all of no matter to us. That's 90 years in the future.

Oh dear,Pete - that was exactly, what I didn't want - a political debate about Obama or Bush or anyone else. I just wished you - the whole America - good luck for the future with your new president (cause he's elected now, and you'll have to accept him for the next 4 years).

Please, everybody - don't enter a ring here for political debates or frustrations. We need a positive outlook to the future - that was all I wanted to say.

Olham,
sincere thoughts for a future that certainly needs to be now. I want my kids to have a future in their life time. As you can see from the last two responses, America (and the World) still has a long way to go!

Conrad.

Don't count me in that last part,That is a standard liberal trick!...Accusing me of being a RACIST!" YOUR THE ONE IT LOOKS LIKE WHO HAS A LONG WAY TO GO...DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT LABELING ME BUDDY I merely stated the American public was fed a bunch of hot air by the candidate an the media if anything please look to the democratic party and their cohorts in the media who trashed bush from day one!...people like you really burn my butt! when bush was in office it was anything goes to trash the guy gitmo,katrina...etc...but now that obama is in office it is a warm an fuzzy feeling all over. unity, love blah blah blah!....it is liberals who have a long way to go,and you know what they will probably never get there,BECAUSE THEY THINK THEY ARE SMARTER THAN EVEYBODY ELSE.

I wish Europe lots of luck, now, too. You all are going to have to start looking out for yourselves again. Have fun with it.

But that's all I'm going to say on the matter. This ain't the place for politics, and I have nothing good to say on this subject anyway. Just do me a favor, OK? You all in Europe mind your own political buisness. We don't presume to tell you all whom to elect. I wish you all would return the favor.

I should have known better

Okay, I made a mistake.
I was naive, sentimental, and stupid enough to think, it would be possible to leave politics outside on this very event, and just wish another nation all good luck. It seems, I laid out a landmine, rather.
I'm sorry, when I hit some on the wrong foot (do you say that?)

When I opened a thread, could I then also ask it to be closed again?

Dakota, Rami, Middle - would you please close this thread?

In the interest of keeping everything quiet, and peaceful, and in WWI.

There are many among us who think today was a landmark, while others see it as, the beginning of the end.

If you'd like a political argument, I know just the place

Key word; TOGETHER

Firstly, thank you Olham. As an American, I appreciate your well wishes and offer mine in return.

Secondly, my belief is that whoever is in power needs to be scrutinized and watched like a hawk as they are but mere mortals and will undoubtedly make mistakes.

Thirdly, what I appreciate most about your original comment is the word TOGETHER. I believe it is the mindset of "Us vs Them" that has gotten us into the situations we see all around the world. Be that liberal or conservative, gay or straight, black or white, catholic or protestant, israeli or palestinian. As long as I see any of my fellow humans as "other", I gain the opportunity to despise, malign and maltreat them. If we remember that, as cliched as it is, we are on this planet TOGETHER, perhaps we could gain some respect for the "other" and maybe even learn some things from them.

Unfortunately guys, I am compelled to close this. I would have let it go till I saw "Obama is an idiot he has'nt done squat EVER! the " written by Bungo Pete.
Look, you guys know the rules...there are other places to post political stuff and this is not the forum for it. So, this one is getting closed. From now on of we see any more politiocal stuff, it's getting closed as soon as we see it. middle
