Just read over at the FSX Forums that the ALPHA Shorts Belfast is now freeware. This may be old news but it's the first that I've heard about it. It's in the British section...:salute:

OOooop... Looks like the model was released back in October. The new announcement is for an FS9 to FSX Port-Over.

BB, I'll make the same comment here as I did there.

The guys at Britsim.com are giving the Belslow a makeover, similar to that recenty for the Valiant. There will be new FDE, new panel, better sounds - based on what they did with the old AS Valiant, it should be something really special, so worth waiting for.

Had it since it's payware days, it always went translucent for me at night, always meant to fix it, never did.

Thanks for the clarification Andy, I thought this was a newly released FS9 plane whan I first saw it. Silly me... once I looked at the size of the download (32 and some heavy change MB), I kinda figured.

JD, you had the ultimate stealth airplane. The translucent quality gave the plane the ability to be invisible to ground and airborne radars as the beams just went through it's structure. LOL!!:jump:

I'll take a look at the night translucency issue with the Belfast...which happens to be one of my favorite heavy lifters and I fly it a good bit. Haven't flown it at night so I never noticed the night translucency issue.

The Belfast's texture folders have the _L textures. What happened is that the night/lighted LOD materials probably did not have reflectivity assigned to the materials. This was the problem with the freeware FSD T-38. Once I ran the MDL file through MDLC, assigned reflectivity to all the materials then used a HEX editor to remove the reflectivity from the VC panel, all was well at night. Will give the Belfast the same treatment.

Just had both Belfast models up at Dusk and at Night....no translucency with lights on for me. JD, maybe they fixed something in the package since you bought it. Grab the package off the Alpha freeware site and try those MDL files and texture folders.
