So I've just now discovered the excellent repaints from Gus Robatto on Avisim.

Went on over to the Alphasim site, not for sale.

Asked my buddy, he said Gus has left Alphasim so it is no longer for sale.

How in the world can I get this?

Would anyone be willing to send me a copy? I don't like pirating, but I don't know how else to get it

Regards, Diego

If you don't like pirating, simple answer is, you don't.

The designer is now elsewhere, and may release a new version. They may be FSX only and even if they are FS9, the repaints might not fit anymore. I don't know.

sorry,
Jamie

PS. I'd like them too, but for F4's Cloud nine and Iris do some mighty fine renditions. I have the Iris ones and love them.

A buddy of mine was kind enough to share his copy with me.

As far as the model goes, I don't think Cloud9 or Iris can compare

Diego, the old FS9 Alphasim Phantoms were done by Mark Harper(who made the Skysim FSX MirageIII/V pack) who is no longer with Alphasim. The models went with him when he left. I have all 3 Phantom packs but am unwilling to send them out due the the license agreement still being in effect as payware. There are a couple of options. First, try to contact Mark directly and ask if there is a way you can buy or get a copy from him. Last I heard from him, the old Alphasim models of his were going to be updated or maybe created as new native FSX models. I am not on the inside of this so I am not 100% sure and of course things are subject to change. If the original Phantom packs are going to be remade as FSX only/ native later, maybe the original models may become freeware at some point. Try finding out from Mark & see what he has to say.

The other option would be buying the outstanding Cloud 9 F-4E/F pack. I have it and can vouch for it being excellent even though Gus's excellent repaints won't work with that model.

(Edit), You posted before I finished my message response. Not to play mother hen here, but I would have asked permission from Mark Harper by PM before doing that(obtaining the model from a "benefactor"). That is still considered payware regardless of the current disposition of the product.

I don't think you should be bragging about piracy on this site, it's highly frowned upon, and is what you have just done.

As for the other models, I dunno, I only have the Iris models so can't comment apart from what I hear on the site, word has it the C9 is the best.

Ok...what do you guys want me to do? Delete the file? I'll do that if it will stop all this bashing. I had no intentions of software piracy. Didn't realize it was illegal for a person who has purchased a product to share it with a friend.

So will deleting it end all this?

Regards, Diego

No bashing Diego, but it would have been logical to ask permission from Mark first before transferring the file person to person even if this was from a friend and not an illegal download. Maybe your intentions were not bad but your actions were not the correct route.

As I noted before, the model is still under payware license(even though no longer being sold), but not yet freeware. I would encourage you to contact the author and see what can be done to get a legal copy of the model if possible.
