Alphasim JU-87 V2 now freeware

Well, as far as FRs go, on my PC the new stuka seems right in there with the older Alpha version as well as Wolfi's Ju-87B, not bad at all. The lysander converts nicely but needs some tweaking with the glass transparencies, Unfortunately it's not going to be just a matter of deleting the 'glass' BMP.

OK, consider 'Lizzie' tweaked & BTW, FR's are quite acceptable. Here is the adjusted texture file, put a copy in each texture folder (allow to overwrite).

Thanks for the canopy fix OW. I had got as far as the conversion but hadn't tackled the canopy.

JU-87 frame rates

Hi,
I was curious about OW's comment on frame rates so I thought I would fire up CFS2 and do a quick comparison.

I did my standard frame rate test which is a quick combat session over Wake Island with clear weather. I fly a single MS default P-38 against 8 of the enemies in the neutral formation so I start head to head with them. I use the HUD cockpit.

I compared the JU-87s of Silvia, Wolfi and the 2 versions of the Alphasim birds.

The Alphasim V2 is the only one that isn't multi-LOD and I get 20 FPS with all 8 enemies on the screen, 30 FPS with 4 and the frames climb to 60 FPS when I am down to a single JU-87 on the screen. The others all get a consistent 60 FPS no matter how many are on the screen.

FYI I am testing on a 4 core system with 4 GB RAM and 512Mb Nvidia card. The OS is Win 7 64 bit

Gavin is correct as usual. The V2 stuka also suffers appreciably FR wise on my PC when properly tested. The lysander is also rather FR heavy in groups but luckily, that shouldn't happen often in missions given 'Lizzies' usual role.

Hi OW, would you be so kind as to upload the Lysander conversion for those of us who are technically challenged?
Cheers, WD22
