I went looking for another fighter to do some VC upgrades and came across Henk's conversion of the Alphasim Jaguar. It was a favorite of mine many moons ago and I figured this was a good project. Straight away I ran into something I haven't seen before. . .the VC texture is skewed despite everything in the sim being "round" and "squared". The texture has everything slightly wonky. The threat Warning Radar is the most noticeable, being more egg shaped than round. Why was it done that way? Completely turned me off to proceeding. The exterior textures are even more skewed. . .I don't get why anyone would map textures that way. . .seems ridiculous.

I think I have a solution of sorts. I have taken the three main sections of the VC panel and saved them on separate texture sheets of a larger size and then adjusted each section to get it back to normal. I'll redraw everything then compress it back to the size it is on the texture sheet (new sheet size will be 4096x4096). The exterior textures will have to be done the same way. . .stretched back to normal dimensions, painted and then mashed down to fit. Silly!

I remember this issue, a few years a go I did some paints for them and it was just frustrating...silly way to map an aircraft I think.

Looking forqard to this one.

The Alphasim Thunderchief was the same. Putting new national insignia on the underside of the wings (on pre-camo birds) was an absolute nightmare.
