Always great to meet another SOH in person!

In all the years I have been a member of SOH, I have only met a few other members in person.

Today I had the pleasure of meeting Ejoiner (Eric), and his family. My wife and I drove down to Pensacola Beach to a restaurant (Peg Leg Pete's). Great food, and interesting conversation. Naturally, we talked flight simulation stuff!

As an aside, I am doing better, health-wise; but am getting a Cardiogram at the NAVHOSP on Monday. Hopefully they can find out more about my Atrial Fib problems last week.

Rgr that Pete! Eelier this year Rob (srgalahad) was passing through here (St. Louis, MO) and we met up and went to visit the Greater St. Louis Air and Space Museum, located across the river in Illinois. We spent all the time looking at, and talking about, airplanes that we forgot to get a photo together! Darn airplane geeks, can't take 'em nowhere, lol!

I think it would be awesome to someday have a convention, of sorts, for SOH members. Flightsim.com has one, I think. AVSIM used to. Maybe not many folks could attend, but it would be fun to see how much interest it would generate. NC

Is that the same "Eric Joiner" from the old Aluminum Cloud website?

aluminumcloud was me. :)

So delighted to visit with Pete (NC) and his wonderful wife April. So nice to meet folks you know through FS. I also went this week to the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola and HOLY ISH... I could spend days there. Days. Wife and kiddos in tow not so much.

I spent time taking pictures of the real planes for which I have repaints of FSX models!! When I saw the FJ-1 (755 nose number), I immediately thought of Duckie's repaint. Also the F3H-2 they have I took pics of up close. As a former plastic modeler I am a major nerd for detail. Just so much here to love.

To be honest what amazed me most was the sheer size of the sea planes. The Marlin and the Mariners they have plus NC4. NC4 is fricking HUGE. I had no idea. Just a great trip so far and so delighted to make a new friend.

I'd be down with this. Avsim has had these and never attended mainly because I am more of a military airplane fan. Avsim is more about airliners.

have it in Sacramento...then i could go..lol...MCC has a good museum and in winter..the tankers are there..and and and.....sighs

Eric, nice to have you aboard here at SOH. I visited the Naval Aviation Museum in November 2011, spent two full days there and had a great time. I hadn't yet figured out all the features of my digital camera so some of my pics were not that great. My shot of the NC-4 turned out nice so I'll post it here. It is indeed a big mother.

Always great to meet other SOhers, of course it is easier in a small country like mine, but I've had great encounters in the past with Members like Huub, Cees, Jankees, Rob Cappers (Robcap), Francois, Jan Visser (Javis) and many others.

The only SOH member I've met in person is Mike Moughamian (Hey_Moe) who lives over in Hampton across the water from me here in Tidewater VA. Outstanding guy. I think Mike has become interested in R/C flying since his last posts here back in 2012. He helped me with some computer problems and introduced me to FSX... which ran better on his high-end rig in 2007 than it does on mine now. :biggrin-new:
