Am a bit confused

No. 4.09 is a official patch. "1.8" refers probably to a third party modding version.

Thanks Nausicaa. I think I'll stick to the official version, I hate to have it start doing "funny things" to me and my computer..

Link for UltraPak. http://il2ultrapack.net46.net/index.php
Also check out the AAA website and mod download.

You can simply right click your IL2 main folder and copy it, then paste to a new location and rename it, then add the mods into the new install. This will leave your clean stock install pristine.

The mods add a great deal to the sim. For one thing they make all the planes in the sim flyable. The sounds are updated and sound better. There is also the Zuti moving dogfight mod that turns coop missions into a hybrid between coop and dogfight. So you can create missions with moving ships and AI aircraft, but still be able to respawn at will in the mission. And there are many new maps including The Slot in the southwest pacific.

Fly the stock version for a while then try out the modded versions. Well worth it.

Gibbons, now you are making me drool a bit. I think that I will give 1.8 a try. BTW how many GBs is 1.8? About 4GB?:bump:

Mine is about 9gigs but I've added some things. Not alot so I don't think the basic 1.8 is too much below that.

The one I use for online is 16.5 GB.I have alot of mods in it.
My 1.8 is just about 9 GB.
