Am I too unpatient to wait for Flight 1 ?

When we're sent beyond the lines to an enemy airbase, there's a Flight 1 and a Flight 2 (thats mine). Flight 1 are often seniour aces. But each time we're airborne, they seem to circle endless rounds round the field, instead of going there! I joined for some minutes, but sooner or later, I can't wait anymore; I'd even go alone. Well, my wingmen follow me then, when I call them to. But Flight 1 - nothing. Then, when I'm over the target, they appear, after some time (always late). I would like to fly with them all - is that not meant to be, or am I only too impatient?

usually the other flight is on a different flight path to you, so there's no need to wait....just gather up your wingies and take them with you if you can....all my recent flights I'd have more luck herding a bunch of cats to the target than getting my wingmen to join me!!!

The second flight circling forever happens to me almost every mission. Long ago I gave up on them and now I never expect them to join the mission, which they don't.

Perhaps 'fixed' in Phase 3? Don't know.

Totally agree with you on that one Gandhi, Instead of staying in formation they go flying off in all directions, especially when the huns are getting close!!

I'm flying the se5 in 1917 at the mo, but I also like the DH2, Pup & the Camel & the DrI & DVII on the huns side. :d

One of my pet peeves, is that the hun seem able to shoot me to ribbons with less than a one second burst at around six hundred yards, yet even though i get so close, i'm in danger of chewing his tail off with my prop & put more holes in him than a doss-house blanket, yet still he flies!!!:banghead:

I know that this has been fixed in P3, but P2 is still so good, that i keep coming back for more!

my kills stand at 5 confirmed with 2 spotter balloons still outstanding, have also been shot down no less than 5 times - i must be made of rubber :costumes:

It's getting better

Last night, I gave it a new try. First, I put the settings to "Very close formation" or so, in the workshop. Then, I flew to an airfield deep in the French territory. I pressed "R" (Return) every now and then, and flew with about 85 % throttle. And my wingmen came and stayed close with me. They seem to get lost, when I fly with full speed.
When we came across 6 Nieuport Lewis, I marked one of them, and pressed "A" for attack, and my wingies really did ! Also, when in a bit of trouble, I pressed "H" for help, and my personal wingman really came and chased the Nupe off my tail, so I could encounter him again, and shoot him down.
The trick may be not flying full speed, and close formation.

The long distance "sniper shooting skills" of enemies is a known problem with P2; you can only approach them flying snake trails to avoid being hit; it works (mostly). And that you must shoot so much ammo into German planes: it seems, that the Albatros as well as the Pfalz and D.VII can take quite some damage - I think the German planes were more rugged and solid. Makes them less agile, but more bulletproof.

I had the same problem with my "wingies" not wanting to follow. I was told that a quick "warp", just for a second, will put them on your six. It works. Since then I haven't left the aerodrome alone.

Yep, the warp certainly brings them to heel, but on the last 2 flights for some reason they just wouldn't keep up.....perhaps they knew something I didn't......both times I had to run for home after being bounced by mightily superior numbers!

Phase 3 AI is better, nothing to see here move along.
