Amazing FS9

Just got a new computer for x-mas. Old one ran FS9 at 20 FPS, new one runs it at 50-60 FPS with everything maxed out. What a difference! Like a new program!
Just thought I'd jump for joy a little bit and share it with you.

Hey Bob,

Its awesome, isnt it?

AI and Autogen maxxed is wild to watch.

You might think of getting some cool cloud and terrain scenery texture sets now from Flight1, BirdsEyeView, Aerosoft.

Your flights are only just beginning... again..

LOL, I built a computer to fly FSX and it flies FS9 so smoothly, I can't get away from it. I can even fly jets fully maxed out with all the goodies that Panther has cost me a fortune on! :icon_lol:

Hi Bob, that's great!:friday: I'm also planning to get a new rig, what are your hardware specs? Mine is currently running on 7to5 fps on highly populated areas, with all the sliders maxxed.

It must be that time of year, I just replaced my rig with a new quad core with a 1 gig graphics card. It do look good in fs9 all of a sudden.

I have a Dell XP630 dual core e8400, 4 gb ram, 9800GT. It smokes!!!

Hey you folks would be a good place to start. I am sick and tired of reading how others are getting awesome fps etc and want to start having some decent FS9 time myself. I want to know if there is a single area I can upgrade first to get the biggest fps bang for my meager bucks.
Mine is an off the shelf e-machines Athlon 64,3400+,2.21GHz,2.93G Ram,GE Force 6150. Is there any one or two things worth upgrading or is it more like all or nothing? And should this be left to a pro or are there items I can swap out fairly easily?

The funny thing is that was close to my old setup! :p I had the X800 pro though....I would say graphics card upgrade...

Is that the sort of think that just swaps out like RAM? Or do I need to take the unit somewhere?
Should be able to simply swap it out. Just be sure of the type of card you have (AGP or PCI Express) as the slot configurations are different. You might also look at adding RAM. For me the two things that changed my FS9 for the best were RAM (I have 4gig) and the video card.

I was told any system will only use as much RAM as it was built to handle so adding more than that is wasted money. If true I am already at that point with some 3G of PCI RAM. So I guess I'll check out a better graphics card like what?
