Started a new game with the RFC 40 Squadron....Have the Nieuport 17 great little plane BUT....
291 rounds...WOW do I have to make every shot count...
Was sent out on a patrol behind enemy lines...On the way there came across a flight of 5 Abatross DII's...They attacked and by the time the Excitement had finished I had no Ammo left to finish the mission...I soldiered on anyway but had to turn tail and run When more enemy showed up...I managed to bag myself 1 of them albatross DII's...Hasn't been confirmed yet like...But got a 45% hit rate anyway...My best by far..
What I was wondering ....Is 291 rounds all they had for real???
Cos if it is...They were braver than I thought...

Look at the plus side, you probaly can rule out Heat caused Gun Jams.

Plus if you got one, that Lewis is nice and cool up there :sheep::sheep::sheep:

Herr Stonewall

If you vant two gunz on der every planez, and ammunission 1.000 roundz, or even 1.100 (Albatros D V and D Va), zen join der "dark side" for ze Kaizer - much more fun! Mmmuahahahaa!!!

Baron von Mahlo

PS: yes, zat must be said for der crumpetz - zey are brave to try wiz us - or crazy! Mmmuahahahaaa!!!

Try the Nieuport 11, it has only 194 or so... You will be putting rounds in one at a time in that thing!

I love how the N17 handles. It helps make the shots count.

Yep, look where the Lewis gun is mounted. Imagine standing up, with the control stick between your knees, removing an empty Lewis drum, installing a full one, charging the weapon and stitting down again, all the while trying to avoid getting shot in the butt by some sneeky Hun. Listen to the oral history interviews at the end of the credits. One of the gents talks about how absurd that process was. Give me a good ol' belt fed Spandau or Vickers any day!

291 rounds is generous as it's loaded all at once ;). You'd actually have 3 x 97 drums (one of them loaded), and after 97, stand up hold the control stick in your knees and reload the drum!

N11 in OFF has 47 round drums, but we are generous and give you 4 lol again already loaded.

Tch!! Look at der crumpetz - zey call zat great, to have loaded drumz of 47 roundz! Ze Kaizer's pilotz would be ashamed, to get shot down by zat sewing machine technology!

If the Kaiser's pilots don't want to be ashamed of having their stitches ripped by that French sewing machine technology, then I hope they won't be too ashamed to hike up the skirts of their Neindekkers and run away, run away!!! :running::running::running::running::running::running::running::running::running:

:icon_lol::costumes:
shredward

:engel016:What it is doing (by having a low ammo count) is improving my aiming...I take a lot more time choosing when to shoot....If I survive long enough...God help them huns when I have 2 Vickers on a Camel....lol

I have tried the Darkside Olham ...That bloody Dr1...I cant fly that thing...haha...Too hot to handle for me...

SHREDWARD: ...then I hope they won't be too ashamed to hike up the skirts of their Neindekkers and run away, run away!!!

Olham: Okay - there you found our weak spot! Tried to dogfight the "Bebe" with an Eindecker, but she turned out to be anything but a baby. And - being Olham (and not my alter ego, Baron von Mahlo) - I like that frail little cutie. (Think, even the Baron does, but wouldn't admit).

Hey, Stonewall - you need to experience each plane a bit longer. When I started (in P2), I thought, I didn't like the Albatros. It just seemed to stall too easy. Now, I can chase a Camel through an alley, - flying almost on the side! I hardly ever get stalls anymore, cause I KNOW her now.
With the Dr.1, you could even do a flat turn! Imagine that Voss manoeuver - being chased by 5 diving S.E. 5a, he just turned around flat, like on a plate - and fired at them.
With the Pup, I could do such incredible climbs, that the Albatros behind me seemed to just fall out of the sky!
He had no chance to get me up there and had to break off. What a chance!
So, each plane has something special (except, perhaps, the Eindecker - lol!). Experience it, and become an ace! :amen:
For the "dark side", you may start with the D VII - easy to fly, and a real killer pig! Nothing can compete with her - try it.

No probs bud...I give it a go....
Try a few single missions on various settings...See what I can do with the 3 wing beauty..
