FS2002/FS2004 Dornier Do217N1 Night Fighter. The Do217 in its first form was first flown in 1938 and was developed for the need for a larger derivative of the Do17. It was employed in various roles until the end of the war. Type N1 was the second nightfighter variant and differed externally from the J by the change in powerplant from radial to inline engines. By Kazunori Ito.

I hope he gets even busier too, Love Ito's creations and so easy to create What If paints for his models too :applause:

FDEs

I hope this is ok. I made some piston engine dynamics for the DO217N1. Just for fun. I made a short video showing it landing on mains with tail wheel up. The cfg did not have turning for tail wheel, so you couldn't even turn off runway. Ha. Here is link to video: http://youtu.be/ojEuZAB6PKo . And in case you want the FDEs they are in zip attachement.

Its definately ok :applause:, the more of Ito's aircraft configs edited to fly better the bigger my :icon_lol:

Thanks :salute:

Maybe in due time he will get around to what I consider one of the best looking creations of Messerschmitt.
The Me-261 Adolfine.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messerschmitt_Me_261

Until then I am happy with all the rare birds he brings to life. Made flyable by FDE gurus such as Napamule it is simply the best of both worlds.

Cheers
Stefan

Write him and thank him for his creations and then try and find good drawings of the Me-261 and send them to him and ask him if he is interested to please put it on his list. He has made by request before. Just don't be mad if he says he doesn't have the time or the inclination. ;)

Hello-
What I did to the FDE was to use the .cfg and .air files from the 1GR Do-217N-2 made for CFS2 by Ted Kaniuka. A few edits (reference datum position, steering angle for the tailwheel, views, light positions, etc.) and it was good to go.

I also gave it a prop texture from Banana Bob, and the twin Daimler-Benz sound set made for the Ground Crew Bf 110, and the usual edit of the panel.cfg file to increase the resolution of the vc gauges (pixel_size= 1024,1024) to finish the tune-up. This is another sweet job on Ito-San's part.

Just after Ito-San released the Loire 130, I sent him a thank you note and put a bug in his ear about maybe making a Ta-154. His reply sounded like he was intrigued with the idea... we'll see...

I will certainly do that. I don't think I could ever be mad at the man. He's been very generous already.
The 261 could also be a real challenge for Sir Nigel.....the weird DB W24 engine would be a feat to engineer for sounds.

The special engine shop at my home base is just starting to build a pair of Allison W24, or more accurately X24s. That is when the #2 engine for Glacier Girl and 14 other customer Allisons are finished I should be able to get up close and personal with that monster.

Cheers

Stefan, didn't the Me 261 use the same engines as the Heinkel Greif? Obio made a decent stab at those, using some Lawdog originals as the base, they make Ito's Greif sound really menacing.

I think the Greif or He-177 used the DB-606 engine initially and then later the improved version DB-610 the three Adolfines only had the 606. But because it was housed in a roomier nacelle than on the He-177 and of course the test aircraft were never maintain in field conditions ( though I doubt it was a picnic anywhere in my fatherland at that time ) it did not have the same issues of bursting into flame as the 177 installations.
Those inflight fires claimed more He-177 than enemy fire and stemmed largely from the combined headers of the inboard 12 cylinders being collected in one small area. Add some grease and oil and the Luftwaffe Lighter is born.

I will try out those sounds when I get back home from Eugene,OR.
