ANF Les Mureaux 117 repaint bv jinx!

:banghead:
I have a CFS2 skin ready and zipped and I tried twice to upload it and failed.
I chose CFS2 Other as category as I could not find any category named CFS2 skins\French aircraft.
The name of my zip file is:

CFS2 ANF 117 SKIN.zip

If anyone finds it, let me know where it is.

If not, help me upload it please.
I spent 2 week doing this skin and it is a pity to let it go to waste.

Nick

PS. I am still having trouble with the workings of this site, both when I try to upload and when I try to find something. I think it needs a lot of getting used to for me, and the only area where all works smoothly for me is posting at the forums...

ANF Les Mureaux 117 information

I tried to upload a skin for the aircraft ion the title and failed..,
Pending help from anyone, here is a text that will give you information on the plane and may incite you to download it, if I ever manage to upload it here:

CFS2 ANF 117 SKIN.zipANF Les Mureaux 115 ADDITIONALINFO

The Mureaux first enteredservice in April 1931 and was retired in 1941. 285 examples were produced. Ithad the 12-cyliner water-cooled 12Ycrsengine and was of parasol configuration that was in vogue at the time. It wasarmed with 4 machine-guns of 7,5 mm (2 fixed up front and 2 rotating ones inthe rear gunner position). Its maximum speed was 320 km\h, range was 1500 km,and ceiling 9000 ft.

The Mureaux monoplanes, from ANFLes Mureaux 110 to ANF Les Mureaux 117, formed a family of tacticalobservation-recco aircraft typical of the interwar period and the 115 and 117were manufactured in series for the French Air Force and they were extensivelyused in the French Campaign (Campagne de France).

The following Mureaux typeswere produced:

The merger of the Ateliersdes Mureaux with the Ateliers de Construction du Nord de la France (ANF) wasthe company that made the Mureaux series. André Brunet was the engineer who hadworked on a project for a two-seater observation aircraft first launched in1928. It resulted in a design of metal construction, fixed landing gear, and 2open cockpits in tandem for the crew. Two prototypes of the 110 were first madeand the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] one was later converted into a Mureaux 112. First testflight was in April 1931. In time, all types listed above were designed andflew and operational aircraft were produced. The ANF Les Mureaux 200 was athree-seater and only one example was made that flew on May 15[SUP]th[/SUP]1936.

The principal Mureaux userswere the Observation Groups of the Army (Groupes d’Observation d'Armée (GOA):

These above were renamed to GroupesAériens d'Observation (GAO) in September 1939. They were used in support of thearmy land forces on reconnaissance missions and observation of artillery shotfor corrections, buthtye soon became the easy prey of the Germans and lossesproved too high. The first one to fall to the guns of the Luftwaffe was aMureaux 115 of GAO 553, one 8 September 1939. Soon the chiefs-of-staff demandedthe replacement of the Mureax by the Poteze 63.11, but there were 110 Mureauxin front-line service on 10[SUP]th[/SUP] May 1940, at the start of the Battleof France. The replacements with the two-engined Potez progressed andeventually the Mureaux were relegated to liaison and training missions.
A few examples of theMureaux were still used on the 20[SUP]th[/SUP]of June 1940, of which 24 were still in front-line use with these units:

Groupement de marche d’observation des armées de l’Ouest(merger of GAO 501, 1/508, 2/508, 515, 1/551, 581 et 1/589): 11 Mureaux 115/117(7 available)
Groupement de marche d’observation des armées du Centre(merger of GAO 502, 505, 510, 546 et 3/551): 4 Mureaux 115 (2 available)
Groupement de marche d’observation de l’armée des Alpes(merger of GAO 503, 511, 2/514, 518 et 545): 4 Mureaux 115 (2 available)
Groupement d’observation de Corse (ex-GAO550) : 5 Mureaux 115/7 ( 3 available).

A few examples managed to escapeto French North Africa and on the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] of June 1940 a mixed group ofObservation and Transport (Groupement d’Observation et de Transport) wascreated at Marrakech in Morocco with 9 Mureaux 115/117 and 29 Potez 540. Whenthe armistice was signed all these aircraft went to the scrap heap.

Jinx,

The skins I would likely file under "CFS2 Skins - Other." I can't figure why you are having issues, what browser are you using?

Where is this plane?

I downloaded a plane , an upgrade by baldy, of a French a/c. File is Baldy's_Leo-451_upgrade.zip.

I cannot find the blasted plane anywhere here.

I went through 9 pages of peperez addons and it was not there. That is torture. I looked under skylane and skilane, no use either.

The Readme says:
Upgrade for Baldy´s LeO-45 and 451 series wich was recently uploaded by Skilane in the SOH CFS2 library

This upagrade includes :
1) A new 2D panel and a new VC panel based on the former panel (by Peperez) included in the "baldy package"
This new panels have been reworked to look more like the real panel of the bird (see the docs provided), with some view toward the front compartiment.
2) A new DP with :
- new boxes to look more like the real shape of the bird (see the blue print in the doc provided)
- a gunner and a machine gun added in the nose( like in the german version of Baldy) : unfortunatly the gun is a Lewis, instead of a MAC 34 machine gun, as there is no such a gun available in CFS2)
3) New textures for the lower turret with transparent glasses

Enjoy!

I have never seen anything AS CRAZY AS THIS LIBRARY.

1. Files are submitted by user name.
2. Users can upload other people's files. User name and maker are 2 different people, very often.
3. Search engine is crazy.
4. Categories are too many and too confused.
etc, etc......

I am telling you I will upload my 3 ready files at flightsim.com and avsim and let you know in the forums. Anywhere else but here where I get bogged down every hour....I cannot, no matter how I try, manage to upload them here and I am sick of trying.... I am furious, to say the least. Or stupid--also quite possible in my case, I may add...

Excuse the vehemence...

Jinx,

Because Skylane is preparing to release a Vichy French campaign in the Middle East and the LeO-450/451 is a primary aircraft in it, he and I cobbled together all the fragmented pieces of his aircraft into that new package to avoid the headaches of separate downloads.

Here is the package by skylane: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=151&id=18279

Here is the update package: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=151&id=18296

I used the usernames baldy for the first one and beepee for the second. It took me less than 45 seconds. The library is not meant to make you angry.

I still don't know why you are having issues uploading aircraft, though.

Rami,

Thanks for the help --I downloaded both files.
I want to make some repaints of the Leo 45 series.

One question: I am planning to make a psd file for use by repainters, or perhaps a series of them, with French squadron emblems that skinners can use. How and where would I upload that--which category?

So you may see what I mean about searching, if you type LeO-45 in the text tab at left upper side and have 'all files" on the right upper side, the engine finds nothing. Why is that?
I also typed "Wellington" in the same tab with same parameters, and some Wellington bombers came up.
That shows that in some cases the engine works with different criteria. Try it and see.

I will give uploading here a last try within the next few minutes. If it fails again, I go striaght to flightsim.com and avsim, upload there, and notify the folks here with links.

Jinx,

The search engine does better with more information. The more you provide, often the better the result. LeO is simply too short to get a good response, unfortunately.

As far as the upload goes, it would be under CFS2 Skins - Other.

Fine Rami.

But can you please give me an example of what words would you type and where (in which search boxes) so that you would find the upload mentioned above?

And what is that tab in the search engine with letters like ABC, EDF, etc in groups of three?

Why isn't there an overall instruction file somewhere to explain to us how to search the site? Flightsim.com has one such text.

I have tried a 4th time to upload my skin in CFS2 Skins - Other and failed again.
I am uploading to flightsim.com or avsim and will give everyone here a link, in case they want it. Screenshots attached...

I could also send it to you and can tyring uploading it under my name--that might solve the issue.
If so, pm me your regular email address so I can send the zip of the repaint.

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Skins - Other

Description: ANF Les Mureaux 117 repaint by Nick Tselepides

This is a repaint of baldy's ANF117 (made from an original by Mercure), file name ANF_Les_Mureaux_117_with_skins.zip
available at simouthouse cfs2 library.

It is available here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=151&id=1761

You must first download that aircraft and install it in your CFS2.

Credits go to:
"baldy" and "Mercure" for the wonderful model. Baldy also advised me on the textures.

Roger Gaucher, my own friend in Normandy, France, who provided me with links on hundreds of diifficult to find French squadron emblems of all units and types of fromations, all very useful for repaints. Merci Roger.

"fde_bressy" (Francois) who gave me the new dp with better weapons and crew. Merci aussi Francois.

Happy flights

Jinx,

Outstanding work on this, I will talk to a couple other administrators about the problem you're having with uploads and see if it's on our end. :wavey:

Thanks Rami,

I appreciate your kind words. In truth, it took me 2 weeks to do it and lots of research...

Do you know of any way to show the crew in FS9?... as you can see... my repaint flies
pilotless in FS9...

Gaucho,

I know of no way to add pilots in the fs9 version.

Is that the repaint I made?
If so, why no stains on the exhaust stacks?

Nick

Can't you tell? IT IS MY REPAINT....

Gaucho,

I know of no way to add pilots in the fs9 version.

Is that the repaint I made?
If so, why no stains on the exhaust stacks?

Nick

No... yours is totally devoid of detail... just the untouched profile... I did
a whole new one using my methods... and indeed there are smoke stains.. more
realistic... the smudges yours has are not very convincing... notice how subdued
things are... it looks more like a painting than a plastic model... My hobby is
to do my own versions.... not just copy stuff...
Cheers,

Gaucho.

Nice work.

Why don't you upload it so we can fly it?
I get the impression you do like to upload your repaints, but I may be wrong.

Also, at times you say I have too much detail and now you say mine is devoid of detail, contradicting yourself.
At any rate, all repainters paint to their taste and habit, and you and I are no exception to that rule.
And the differences make repaints richer.

Nick

You are right indeed...

Notwithstanding... you seem to find fault with everything I do.... lol
At any rate... if you ever visit the thread I started back 2 years ago... and is still going with over 15000 views...
I ALWAYS MAKE MY REPAINTS AVAILABLE via PM... and have shared with those who are interested... personally
I am not too savvy in tech matters (as you can well see by my occasional cries for help... lol) so I really never
figured out all the legal ins and outs of uploading and it is just as easy to honor requests for people who really
want my repaints... Also.. in my own little and "old" capricious mind... I feel it is something of an ego trip I
am not into.... I do things for the joy of it and not to compete... there are better repainters so I do not pretend
to be in competition in any way... as a matter of fact I have 3 request for panel bmp files I need to send today..

btw... in the enclosed view.. you can see the work on the top surface of the wings and tail planes... that show
the independent additions I made to the upper wings surfaces... ailerons, details, etc. [especially the wheels] PURELY FOR MY
ENJOYMENT... and if anyone wants to share in it... as usual... just PM me

Cheers,
G.

Gaucho,

I did not find fault...It looked wonderful to me.

I just wondered if we who come here to visit could share it if you uploaded it.

The wing overs look great, much better than mine.

Since I would like your repaint, I will send a pm and request it.

Cheers

A new (2D and VC panel) for AFN 117 Les Mureaux

Baldy, Jinx, and Gaucho

I have done a new 2D panel for the AFN 117 Les Mureaux by Baldy
I made it to look more like the VC view of the bird
ANF Les Mureaux 117 Panel.jpg

I have uploaded it today in the library (CFS2 / panel)
Enjoy !

Beepee

Gaucho : Feel free to use my original bipmap to make a new panel wich I am sure, knowing youd skillness, will be a piece of art.
Cheers

Beepee,

Thanks for the panel. I downloaded it and will install it soon.

I find it amazing how a repaint of an aircraft very few people know spurred so much creative activity....
I also find it very healthy to move away from the popular and common types from time to time and fly some more unusual, lesser-known types.

I am doing a repaint of another French a/c of the thirties--sneak preview later tonight or tomorrow.

:very_drunk:
Than you Beepe once more.
