• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Another Bomber Command vet passes away

This guy's story reminds me of a vet we had on the forum a little while back. He was a tail gunner on a Lanc and mentioned being credited with downing a 262 on a daylight mission late in the war, though he thought one of the escort fighters probably got it instead. I wonder if this is the same guy?

...and another one passes. We're lucky that a lot of these folks memories have been put down on film/book/audio over the last years, it won't be long before ww2 fades from living memory and into history.

That was Grandguy, he lived in Canada iirc and passed away a couple of years ago.

I sometimes visit a former tail gunner in my work: I asked him once how many ops he had done. Twenty seven, he said, then the war ended. I'll bet you were glad, I said. YES I WAS, he answered.
:salute:
