Another community project.

SOH-CM-2023
Hi everyone,

Since SOH has contributed to community projects including the A26 Invader and the upcoming F7F Tigercat series, I would like to know if there would be any interest in another one? I won't say what it is yet unless we have some motivated members and I can actually gather help for this porject.

The objective is to create separate packages with dedicated models for FS9 and FSX, sounds, high quality VC, etc.

If I can get enough interest, I will post screenshots of the project which is half way completed...just need more talent to finish her off so she can fly the wild blue yonder:ernae:

Nice idea, but hard to tell without further details...

There's not much I could contribute, except smashing some paint on it once the hard work of the polygon benders, vertices wizards and FDE geeks is done... :d

But when it comes down to it and a spraycan is needed: count me in! :jump:

Cheers,
Markus.

As with the F7 or other projects I can only offer to help with research depending on what the model is. If a real airplane is somewhere in the western USA I can usually fly there on a weekend and get pictures as needed. Other than that I can only offer my orange suited Test Pilot skills.

But if it is a Whirly Bird....then not even that. I could only tell you that it crashes as good as the other ones I have tried :D :D

A Bell 222? Love to help out in the testing phases, have a good amount of real-world Helo time, mostly 206B's and 407. Have quite a bit of FS flight time in rotary wings ...

Well I got a few volunteers to paint the helicopter.

What I need are the following individuals:

Modeler: Has access to 3DS Max 9, I'll try to get them converted into gmax files. Modeler will also create an FSX specific package.

Gauge designer/coder: The gauges are pretty much drawn, just need them coded into a twin engine setup like Jordan Moore's Bell 412)

Sounds: I can pretty much tackle on my own as I have the sounds in my collection

Paintkit designer: Responsible for creating a layered paintkit for use in Photoshop, PaintShop Pro or anything that will handle layered paintkits.

Texture designer: I have a few people already expressing interest in painting the chopper, I'll chip in as well with painting. This way, not one person has all the burden.

AIR file/Flight dynamics specialist: Person responsible in creating the way the helicopter flies and handles. Also will be responsible for adjusting the contact points, etc.

Pretty much the base helicopter is almost done and animated for FS9. The plan for the project was to create all versions of the 222 and the 230 both with retractable gear and skids. Reference material is no problem at all as I have tons of it, plus Alan has supplied his material as well. I've also got flight manuals for the entire series.

If anyone has an interest in helping out with this project, let me know. This is one sorely needed helicopter for FS9/FSX, now is our chance to get this one up and going. What do you say:ernae:

Mercy Air does have a number of those right next door to my hangar at L67. So if you do end up in need of a few pictures I won't even have to fire up the IO-540 to get them.

I'll probably end up need pictures of the skid gear and the attachment points for the 222UT variant and the medical interior (if you are allowed to take pics of the inside). If you could get those, I would be very greatful.

I'll swing by tomorrow and have a chat with them. Should not be a problem though.

One time I went to my local airport to do some aircraft watching. I asked mercy air if we could go back there and see their helicopters, but they came up with an excuse and it didn't happen. :d

The project is well underway. The Max files are in the process of being converted into gmax files. Will post further info when available.

I guess nobody needed a ride this Saturday as the Mercy Air base at L67 was completely deserted. Only two of the 222s were there and one of the Hueys.

They also have 4 222s in different states of dis-assembly there but nobody to get permission for more than external pictures.
I did take a few shots through the windows of the interior, but they are probably not worth much.

Here is a link to the zip...let me know if you need something else.

Stefan,

Great work on the images. As for the interior images, I have some in my collection I can probably work from:ernae:

Waves hand... Would be glad to assist with paintkit (after mapping) or liveries. I'm not always the fastest in the group though...

(yes, this is the third time I posted this... just wanting to make sure its seen somewhere)
