The Eagles guitarist Glenn Frey has died at the age of 67.

The US band announced the news on its website stating the founding member died on Monday in New York city after complications from a number of illnesses.

"It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our comrade, Eagles founder, Glenn Frey, in New York City on Monday, January 18th, 2016," the band wrote.

"Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia."

Was fortunate to see Don Henley and Glen Frey perform in February last year at one of their 'Eagles Reunion' tour shows.
My favourite West Coast band.
:sorrow:

The Eagles are so great, and Frey was an integral part of it. I saw the Eagles perform just once, at a outdoor concert in southern Maryland (1973) near NATC Pax River. Wolfman Jack was the emcee, and was flown in by helicopter.

I have two Eagles concert dvds: Their Hell Freezes Over dvd, and a Reunion Tour dvd, filmed in Australia. Both performances are outstanding.

Rest in Peace Glenn.... NC

On a corner in Winslow Az this morning.

Hated to hear the news. Seems like the music of my youth is slowly heading for a bigger stage. Always enjoyed the Eagles and Glen's solo work. Smuggler's Blue's remains one of my favorite playlist fixtures.

Ok, now most will not know that Glenn Frey released a cd in 2012 called After Hours. It consisted of standards such as "For Sentimental Reasons", and "The Shadow of Your Smile". I LOVE all of the Eagles music, and Glenn's solo efforts, including After Hours. It shows a different side of Frey. Other artists have released similar cds, but (unlike many other singers) Glenn was able to pull it off with style. NC

Here is the audio for "For Sentimental Reasons"
