Runs FSX at 24 - 35fps(locked at 35). I am happy with it but would like to see some improvement(without breaking the bank would an upgrade to a EVGA 896-P3-1171-AR GeForce GTX 275 Superclocked Edition 896MB 448-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card help? and looking at Windows 7.

This is what the Mrs. just bought for her own comp(alot of her stuff is on mine till this shows up):
Intel Core i7 920 2.66ghz, 12GB Corsair DDR3, 1TB, DVDRW, (2) 9800GT SLI, 650W, Vista Home Premium 64 w/ Windows 7 upgrade

Thanks Chris

FSX sliders 1/2 TO 3/4 max - REX,UTX,GEX

Yep, a GTX 275 would help.

I'd give the Q6600 to the Missus and take the i7 instead. I bet she doesn't need the power anyways - unless she's an avid fan of Crysis, Far Cry 2 and other demanding stuf. :d

Have you tried overclocking your processor? I have my dual core up from its stock 3.0 GHz to 3.6 GHz and that gave me a nice boost in frame rates.

Played with it and can run at 3.0 fine now - Would a Evga GTX275 superoverclocked fit on this motherboard? and installed a 950 watt power unit...Thanks

Your 8800 card is fine(spell that will work) for FSX actually with all your other components..

That CPU needs to be at least 3.4 for best results..

FSX never needs killer graphic cards, as its always killing your processor..

BUT a 275 would be nice to have...

If your mobo has one PCIE slot it will work...If you have the room and length for it....

I would get a ATI 4890 and save some money myself....

New GTX 275 superclocked and OCed the Quad to 2.8 and now running at 35 locked and ooh the eye candy is so nice and smooth now - Thanks

OK - Looking for/at a i7 3.33(talk to me....) - would this fit my motherboard? or should I bump that up too? Waiting for some answers:ernae: Chris

No, the i7 uses a different socket, so you'll have to change MB and probably get DDR3 Ram! A pain in the butt, but that's what technology is all about, constant changes!:icon_lol:

No problem....What motherboard in the ASUS line would be best for the i7 975 Extreme edition? and going with Windows 7 pro....

The Asus P6T is a good compromise between price and quality. Or you can go for a 1156 Maximus III Formula with P55 chipset if you really want the latest hardware.:wavey:

Just got done looking at the Maximus III formula - Looks good -Cooling options if needed?? Thanks for the input - Chris

You must use a socket 1366 motherboard for a socket 1366 cpu like the i7 965, Maximus III Formula is an 1156 socket board and totally not compatible
Ted

ASUS Rampage II Extreme LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard -

Intel Core i7 975 Extreme Edition 3.33GHz 8M L3 Cache LGA1366 Desktop Processor

I like KINGSTON memory....upgrading to windows 7 pro....Up to 12GB of DDR3 1333 RAM on asus rampage, is this good with 7 32 or 64, or does it matter? - and should I look at the hyper X series at kingston?? Also what the deal with single, dual or triple memory in layman terms..

Ya I should make sure the sockets match - THANKS LOL
