Another mystery ....

WarHorse47

SOH-CM-2024
This morning I pulled my MAAM B-25 Briefing Time out of the hangar and went for a flight to Tillamook, OR. :wiggle: During the flight, parts of the VC and aircraft started to flicker. Not just the textures, but parts of the cockpit and plane exterior would disappear and reappear (compare attached snapshots). :icon_eek: It was driving me nuts - considering I never had a problem with this aircraft before. :banghead:

I decided to do some experimenting and switched aircraft models, changed framerate limits, and stuff like that. Finally, the flickering stopped when I reduced the Global Max Textures Limit from Massive to High. :jump: So...

Can anybody explain what I experienced? Is my video card on its last leg, or is there something with the B-25 models or textures that cause this to happen? BTW, no problem with any other of my a/c.

Just wondering.

Thanks :friday:

Glad you got it sorted out. I remember that exact thing happening to me as well, a couple of computers ago. The same VC bits as the ones your seeing too. I never did figure out what was causing it, and it was only the MAAM B-25 that ever did it. Wierd.

I've had something loke that happen to me, but with other aircraft. :faint:
I Came to the forgone conclusion that it was because my computer is a piece of gloryfied CRAP. :typing:

You've got "Render to Texture" turned on in your graphics settings... any part that is not textured will tend to flicker or disappear...
(or at least that is the cause of very similar symptoms observed on my machine...)

might also want to point out that the same is true of all of my aircraft, not just the MAAM-SIM B-25 - however on many aircraft, the untextured parts are fewer or better hidden... for example, take a close look at Bill Lyons 1934 Ford Coupe next time you drive it... parts of the suspension and some of the wheel spokes should disappear at times.
