Air Strike

1955

Tasked with training a group of untested new recruits, a no-nonsense Navy commander (Richard Denning) faces a host of challenges as he attempts to transform the greenhorns into a squadron of crackerjack jet pilots. Don Haggerty co-stars as the unit's second-in-command who clashes bitterly with the cocky young upstart of the team (James Courtney) after the lad shows off with some reckless aerial acrobatics.

Very chatty movie, barely an hour long. Some good flight deck scenes aboard USS Essex (CVA-9) with Cougars, Banshees and a few Furies. Richard Denning as the squadron CO is about the only one that does any real acting, he looks and talks like a CO. If you have an hour to kill, go for it. :) Way better 1950's jet action in The Bridges at Toko-Ri.

I saw some of it... great footage of the Banshees at the start and then the woman reporter wanted to do a story on the wives.... movie was ended there.:isadizzy:

Oh boy, watched it last night after reading your post, only good thing about it I can say is it had airplanes in it.........

Yes, the general consensus is that the movie is worth watching for those who just like seeing vintage USN aircraft, and that the acting is bad. No problem!
