FS2004/FSX Henschel Hs 123 Biplane. The Henschel Hs123 was a single-seat biplane dive bomber and close-support attack aircraft flown by the German Luftwaffe during the Spanish Civil War and from 1939 to 1944 in WW2. Although an obsolete design, it continued to see front-line service until 1944, and was only withdrawn due a lack of spare parts to keep the aircraft operational. Two fighter bombers and one tank buster version are included. All Gmax models by A.F. Scrub.

Not meaning to steal the thunder from Scrub's model, but:

Chris Herring (aka NCGent) has a very nice HS-123 model in his "payware" store......TopFlightSimulations. It will set you back a mere $8 (US). The model is nice, the VC is sweet! I have a paint kit that I have nearly done for the plane.....just need to find time to finish it and do some paints for it.

Visually there seems to be some more "polys" to Chris's model making the model details more smooother. But then.. it's payware.
In fact I too started a year ago makeing some textures to that one. But when I discovered it was only possible to paint the engine cowling in one color, I never finished them.

Watchdogs textures on the Scrub model is very nice by the way.

While a bit dated, Alphasim/Virtavia should have their old payware Hs 123 for CFS 2 and FS8 at their freeware site. When introduced it was a state of the art and it is still very useful in CFS 2. I've never tried to convert it to FS 9, but I think that it might be possible.

Our master of old plane tweaking, Obio, updated the Henschel and it should be available here in the library. Watchdog22 also did a great four pack of skins for it too.

As I understand it, the Hs 123 didn't have reduction gearing for its prop. At high power settings, the prop tips went supersonic and it gave a machine gun like sound, much like a De Haviland Beaver does at take off. There is a sound file by Doug Westfall that replicates this. Look for: HS123sound.zip or the author's name

Has anyone made any screen shots of Scrub's new Henschel and a report on it's flight characteristics?

Did a quick search for the Alphasim HS123, but no luck. But I seem to remember the model, allthough good to look at ,lacked the dynamic shine etc. Please arrest me if I'm wrong.

Apparently there isn't much available on the cockpit of this aircraft...
So I created this one from an old line drawing... It can be displayed as is... or
on a zoomed-in view (just the main manel and none of the detail I painfullyworked on...lol
but of course... with larger instrument bezels... (though for my flying I preferred the more
detailed view and just follow the instruments "grosso modo"
At any rate... I can make it available...
