"Note, first off, that we haven't announced 64 bit support for 2.0, and I can't comment on where 64 bit support falls into our product road map at this time. As such I can't really answer your question other than to say that add-on scenery generally doesn't include dlls that run in Prepar3Ds application space the way that many add-on aircraft do, and that in all likely hood, there would be very few scenery issues if/when we move to 64 bit. We are adding some features to the model format for 2.0 though so 2.0 models won't work in P3D 1.x, ESP, or FSX. Older models should still work in P3D 2.0 however."

Thanks Craig for the heads up.

They sound a little 'iffy' on the move to 64bit. I hope they have some breakthroughs and are able to get into 2.0. Man, that would make their sim amazing. Already I love it, but it would be incredible in 2.0/64bit.

That would be cool on new model features. Love it!

Well, I thought the 64 bits core would be one of the main features of the version 2.0...
Looks like it won't be the case.
Then, I wonder what kind of features they've been working on ? Of course there must have been a good set of bugs resolved, but there must be something else on the functionnal side, right ? Anybody knows anything about this ?

I heard through the grapevine by someone else that is not in the team that they are still doing to do a 1.5 update before the 2.0, and that 2.0 is perhaps 1+ years away. Thats only what I heard though, so thats only a rumor.

I had thought that 2.0 was coming out this year, like soon, but I think some things happened. Not sure.

I am really enjoying 1.4 in the mean time. :)

Any progress updates are signs that P3D is moving forward. Right now, the only thing I would like to see tweaked is bloom (toned down).
I think a move to 64bit would be in a positive direction for them over all.

I want to see hybrid dual systems of propulsion, rockets so we can go into space, and submarines being able to dive with joystick control and have autopilot be able to manage subs. I would also like to see, well..... I could go on. But I am way happy with 1.4. :jump:

This might sound bad, but I quit using ATC. Since I am mainly testing, I just stopped using it altogether. :S

I loved using it in the past as it felt like 'real flying', but now, I just cant be slowed as my time is used up.

My only real complaint is the ATC window and its tardiness, otherwise happy.

Is that the same bug I get where the screen goes black for a moment when you open or close the ATC window ?

Thats the main gripe I have and is what stops me from using P3D for anything other that sight seeing. Anything more serious and its back to FSX.

Running windowed and using Autohotkey + fullscreen script goes around of the problem. Visually there is no difference between that and fullscreen. In fact it is much more convinient to use windowed mode as it makes jumping between sim and other programs a whole lot easier (flight planner, weather, plane manual, music player etc.). If I'd be flying FSX today, I'd use this method still.

re "Autohotkey + fullscreen script"

Never heard of this, and I've been at this MSFS since '93. How is this achieved please.

You can download Autohotkey (the scripting program itself) from the home page, just google it. Then, go to Avsim file library and search autohotkey and it should give you just one hit, the pseudo fullscreen script for Autohotkey. After installing Autohotkey program, just click the script file to load it. After that the scrip resides in the memory and you can see the Autohotkey "H" logo on the task bar to show it is active. After that, just launch the Prepar3D (or FSX) in windowed mode, and when it has loaded press Win+F11. Behold and see, the script instantly maximizes the window and removes the window title frames. Works with every resolution and every window, so it is not generally related just to FSX/P3D. As I said, visually there is no diffference with "normal" fullscreen.

Works like a charm. Of course P3D ATC window doesn't became transparent, but now it works like in FSX: no black flashes or anything else annoying. Also, if your system is fine, you should not experience any performance loss from running windowed. And as I said, with the script it is now easy to jump to other programs from the sim, so all I can see is just benefits.

By the way, I just installed a triple 27" monitor surround setup. P3D is just amazing now with 6080 pixels of horizontal FOV (resolution is not standard because of bezel correction). I also reinstalled Windows, so it takes a while to enjoy all the favorite addons again. But hey, what's the hurry :running:

I hope this helps.

Where in the world did you hear this? It would had to be a thread somewhere, right? (unless it came from me, ha!)

But I am a biut surprised Lionheart you would say this as I thought you would be somewhat on the "inside track" with them? After all you did provide them with a new default aircraft. At leased being part of the beta this summer, which would probably mean you would be under an NDA.

I think if they were to release a v1.5 it would have been done about now but I cannot see any real advantage of this at this point. Most P3D users are getting along fairly well with 1.4 - there is no major outcry of something major broken. So IMO it would be wise to continue all time and effort with v2.o and release with a bigger "splash" in the marketing dept.

Hey Clutch,

Nope, Im not in close with the team. I wish I were. I offered the Mooney with no strings. I would very much like to get them an SR-71 Blackbird and also a Piper 4 seater trainer, mainly for student pilots to train with, as most schools these days use Piper's in the training fascilities (real planes).

My info came from a good source who has inside info, and I am not in an NDA, and neither is he.

But.............! Remember, things can change. Schedules can shift, etc, etc.

One thing that they are really pushing for at P3D in the forums is a startup screen, so Team P3D are putting something together. When it will be introduced, I do not know. And, they might cancel it, but they said they were very open to the peoples ideas and saw that the guys really wanted the bootup screen thing (like FSX has) so they said they were looking into it.

That..... is all I know. No secrets.

I am SO LOVING THIS SIM!

Genius! How I never came across this before I do not know. It works a charm. In FSX and P3D and smooth, smooth, smooth. I've been testing it al morning in both sims and I am amazed no stutters!. Next to try out Eyefinity which I have always had to abandon due to sluggish frames.
:applause: Thanks very much.

Your welcome, glad that it works for you too!

Have a nice flying :wiggle:

PS. I can't fly with quite the same settings with triple monitors than with just a single one and that is quite obvious considering the more than triple the amount of pixels to be rendered with surround set up. It is heavy and especially with high AA you kill your FPS with heavy clouds complemented with some HD textures: mem bandwidth of GPU is just overstressed and FPS dies. I'm still satisfied after some settings tweaking and I can fly smoothly with all the sim settings pretty much on the right (I have always used autogen one notch from the full and water in the middle). Remember, this script doesn't do magic tricks and improve frame rates, it just makes windowed mode look like regular full screen and thus gives a workaround for P3D ATC fullscreen problem.

Ah, very interesting Lionheart... maybe you should put me in contact with your "source" as we have been working on a front-end launcher (actually, it's way more than that), for over six months. LM may be interested. But what I really need right now is an additional C# programmer!

To TheGrunt - Will that AutoHotKey solve the ATC flash if you have multiple displays? Never had the issue using one display but my Surround set up causes the ATC flash.

Works just fine. As I said, this script just makes windowed mode look like fullscreen by removing window title frame and maximizing the window. It works with every resolution.
