Any news on ORBX North American Landclass ?

I do dare to mention or ask this question over on the ORBX forum . It seems to be a forbidden discussion to bring up . Just wondering If anyone has heard any news on a projected completion date . If memory serves me right it originally was projected for a December 2014 release date .

You're likely smart not to bring it up over there. No developer likes to be bugged about completion times and you can't blame 'em for that, but they tend to particularly sticky about topics that don't simply say 'thanks', at least in my opinion. I own a ton of their stuff, and I've been involved with their FTXG freeware airports, but I steer clear of their forums.

Regardless of when it comes out, it'll be nice to have if done on the same level as the EU LC was.

I admit I'm a ORBX fan and thoroughly enjoy their products . A top notch company in my opinion . I yanked this little paragraph/article from (?) somewhere off the net . A pretty simple comparison and explanation . I can fully understand developers not wanting to project completion dates , just wondering what kind of problem they ran into that causes a estimated time (Dec 2014) to now (middle of May 2015) . Just curious on the the delay .

Im still waiting for some airports to be P3D'd. They seem to have some sort of turnover in their devs . A few have moved on from earlier days it looks like .

OT: While speaking of Orbx I cannot resist asking what the heck happened when I downloaded and installed Orbx Iceland demo and after that some Gran Canary Islands mountain's textures turned into some "mixture of texture porridge"? There ware water textures, something I didn't identify and some textures with large text DEMO on it. Iceland itself looked like it should be. When I took off the demo Gran Canary island returned to original condition. I have there Canary Sim's Project Canary 2006 scenery (originally for FS2004 but modified for FSX) that works good.

My understanding is this isn't quite accurate. Landclass has information about where to place textures such as town, forests, desert, wheat fields, etc. Lakes, rivers, roads, bridges and railroads is something different that is called landscape or vector. If you buy a landclass product from Scenery Tech or Orbx (for example) it won't have any of these things. However the Vector product from Orbx or Ultimate Terrain will have it. It's a technicality but can be important to determine which product to purchase.

Good point rich12545 . I could not begin or attempt to explain the technical aspects of landclass , I just have the basic knowledge . I'm not sure where I grabbed this paragraph from off the net . I do have FTX Vector and I have a basic idea of the of the differences mesh , scenery , Vector(Similar to UTX I presume) but that's about it . I do know that the ORBX Regions and Airposts have their own LC etc . When all of this comes together one of these days it will be a rewarding experience for us simmers .

Rob Newman has written a comprehensive guide on how the sim elements work together. Just open FTX Central v2 and click on "Orbx Guide" on the lower left corner. Pages 12 through 17 explain the scenery elements quite thoroughly (and with a lot of pics).

I've read that and it's something I've been thinking about for years. I've always wanted global landclass and global vector, something not available with fs9 that I used for eight years. Now I'm able to have it with Orbx vector and Scenery Tech landclass. Add the global mesh that I still have from fs9 fsgenesis. Add the new sky clouds water program from rex. Add the new weather program from hifi. Add the orbx land textures with trees and buildings. I only fly vfr and bush with ga aircraft. Now I can fly anywhere in the world with very nice scenery and good accuracy.
