Any of you ever try repainting the default Jenny?

Is there a way to move the NI on the upper wing further toward the center by perhaps shifting the decal texture? I have my postage stamp Jenny finished except I need to move the top roundel inward. The craziness is, I can apply a roundel to the wing texture where it belongs and iot shows up, but aso does the default location roundel! I remove the roundel for the decal and none show up, go figure!

Caz, baffled!

Try this with the Jenny roundel texture.....paint it all green (0, 255, 0 as the RGB code). Take it into DXtbmp, Create Alpha Channel (Green) and save as an Extended 16 bit 555-1. That should make the roundel texture into a totally transparent image and allow the roundel you place on the wing to show through. The stock CFS2 planes also have the roundel image, and using this technique allows me to "remove" the roundels.

Will do OBIO, appreciate this tid-bit of information immensely.

Well, neither a green nor a pink Alpha worked, but a black Alpha did! :applause:

I applied the old traditional black Alpha over the large star and boom, gone. I did have some concessions, I had to move my roundels toward the center further than I cared. But one more tick out caused the outer portion of each upper wing to show the tip of the blue.

I would also like to make some solid yellow wheel covers, but cannot figure out if the wheel texture is in with the others at all. There is a texture in the main texture that looks like a quarter-wheel with a solid hub? Any ideas?

I am going to take a leap of faith, and assume that the Jenny in FS2004 is the same model they include in the FS2004 SDK for gmax. (I'm not at home; so I can't confirm that.)

If that is the case, then the spokes are textured using the patch shown in white below. The bitmap should be named Curtiss_Jenny_T.

Thanks James, if I can't have solid yellow wheels covers, it will help to have yellow spokes.

I know the texture, thanks for pointing out the arena.

Caz, are you gonna share your masterpiece with those of us who aren't allowed to play with messy paints?:engel016:

Certainly! :ernae:

James, I can't win, you were correct, it was the spoke texture. Unfortunately it was the tappet texture too! LOL

So, I reverted back to the default texture and the wheels will remain as they are.

Now my last question before I put the wraps on this, what part of the texture controls the cowl louvers? As you can see in my screens, they are somehow coded to one of the yellow textures. Where?

Caz, I think our late and much missed old friend Leon Louis did several 'Jenny' repaints.
Might be worth checking out his approach to these problems.

That's a good idea wombat. I had a few of Leon's with FS2002. Need to check the usual sites for some for FS2004. I could carry it over to PS and paste one of his above mine and make it slightly transparent to note the variations. A favorite tactic of mine. :ernae:

Looks like here.

I assume Leon repainted Bill's Jenny?

P.S. Looking good....
