Any old posts on how to use the Hex Editor? Correctly

I have used the Hex Editor before and was successful. In making a standalone of the Liberator_GRVI.

This time I am using the "3gb_Spitfire_5b_T_TN" and the "SpitVb_ZX-A.zip
to make a standalone "3gb_TSpitfire5b_ZX-A." This is a spitfire used in North Africa and Malta in MAW.

I thought I had copied,re-named,deleted files necessary and used the Hex Editor correctly. The aircraft was loaded in my MAW. The only problem is that the aircraft still has the skin as the original aircraft.

Did I miss a step in using the Hex Editor or in renaming a file?

You Must rename the Texture file name Usually the t.dds file..
And put that name into the MDL (model) using the Hex editor..
You must also open the T.mos file and change the name there to be the same as the remaned texture t.dds..

And you cannot lenghten or shorten the name in these files: whatever texture name for the T.dds

The New name Must be the same number of characters as the unchanged Name in the MDL)( Model) file
I usually change one character and when set it up..
Example:
b-24d_t.dds to A-24d_t.dds
Just a example: that way it will not look for or find the Unchanged texture T.dds name in another b-24..
