• There seems to be an up tick in Political commentary in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site we know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religiours commentary out of the fourms.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politicion will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment amoung members. It is a poison to the community. We apprciate compliance with the rules.

A couple years back Bernhard Lechner did a repaint ( douglas_c-47_the_thing_update.zip ) for Manfred Jahn's C-47 for FS9 that recreated the paint scheme of the C-47 in the classic 1950's sci-fi/horror film, "The Thing From Another World". It's an attractive NMF scheme with some bright yellow and orange areas, as well as some attractive nose art, but I'm not sure if it's compatible with the current release of Manfred's masterpiece.

Create a texture folder: 'texture.Tropical Tilly' in the 'Douglas_C-47_V2' aircraft folder.

Next copy files (C47_1T.dds and C47_2T.dds) from the folder you downloaded... 'douglas_c-47_the_thing_update/only for FSX' into 'texture.Tropical Tilly' folder.

Also needed are three files 'propdisk.dds', 'texture.cfg', and 'VC_seat.dds' from one of the other aircraft texture folders and copy those to the 'texture.Tropical Tilly' folder.

Open Douglas_C-47_V2 aircraft.cfg file and copy below the info after the last [fltsim.x] and change x to the next sequence number.

Thing I love about Arctic/Antarctic USAF/USN livery/schemes was the contrast with the officialdom and stenciling then course the mission and sortie comes next :encouragement:
