Hi Folks,

Just wondered if there are any tutorials out there on adding lighting to a VC.

I have a DHC2 Beaver by Steven Grant with a great panel by Fred Choate. Unforunately there is no VC lighting, and despite trying several .cfg lighting tweaks it's stll as black as pitch in there.

Any ideas ?

Cheers...Stuart

Hey Stewart,

Unfortunately, if the model itself doenst have files assigned for illumination of the gauge textures, then its not going to happen. You'll need an interior light instead.

But, if they make you a model with light map gauge textures, remember that the light map textures have to be flipped vertically (not rotated).

You can add lighting to the VC in the lighting section of the aircraft.cfg file. A good place to start is look up the view coordinates. Create a light 1' forward, centered, and 6" down. I use a red nav light temporarily so I can see where it's at from spot view. When you have it right in front of the panel change it to a VC light. You need to open the door or canopy in order to see the nav light inside from spot view.

That is pretty much what I do to install a VC light. But in some aircraft it does not work. In the Alphasim B-17D the nav light will show up as you said, but a fx_vclight will not. Any ideas on that one?

Thanks for the helpful replies [as always on this forum].

I too got the red nav light to show but not the vclight.
