Any U2 fans here? (not the airplane...)

I love U2!! I've always been a big fan of the group. I was fortunate enough to see them in concert once, in NY. I got tickets for their POP Mart Tour.
And yes, I bought their last album, "No line on the Horizon". This album is another "HIT" for U2. Awesome tunes!
Two thumbs up!! :woot:

I liked them in the 80's, but was turned of by their politics and last album.

I think the new album totally owns. IMHO it is their best work yet. Some people think Joshua Tree is better, but I love the direction they went with their new album. It is sooooooooo much better than HTDAAB and ATYCLB. It's even better than my previous favorites Zooropa and Achtung Baby.

I listen to them once in a while, but their spouting their politics turns me off as it does with other celebrities.

I try to avoid their celebrity status and their involvement in politics outside their music. I like their music, not necessarily their ideals. In fact much of what they do clashes with what I think is right.

I got the new one as a surprise gift yesterday. I haven't listened to the whole thing yet.

ATTN: Kiwkat,

I liked Zooropa too. A lot of critics went after that album. You can't win with some people.

Yeah, listened to alot of their stuff in the 80s/90s but haven't bought anything since Vertigo came out

Been a U2 fan since I first heard "Gloria" off the October album in late 1982.

Picked up the new one last Tue. After several listenings it still has not grabbed me yet. I compare it to the Pop cd which was an acquired taste for the most part. A little too much electronic experimentation and not enough of the Edge's signature echo/chimey guitar.

I don't know. I really really disliked pop but the new one is now my favorite.

It may seem experimental but all of the songs have that U2 sound to them. I do wish the Edge was featured a bit more though.

I'd say keep listening to it. It took me at least 3 or 4 times through to start liking the songs much. Get on your boots is a terrible single, but fits well within the album. Shame that's all most people are going to hear from it.

Agreed about the Boots track. Magnificent and Breathe are okay though. Will keep plugging away. How to Dismantle took a few listenings but now it is one of my favorites of the newer U2 stuff.
