Any WW2 buffs here?

Thanks for the PDF, Chief!

My Dad was a Navy man. His bronze foot marker reads:

S1 USNR
WORLD WAR II
JULY ** 1927 AUG ** 1966

That would have made him 18 y.o. at the end of the war.
I remember seeing a military type of document that had my dad's name on it and a picture of a ship. Something like this: Navy ship OIP.png

I sure wish I had my dad's naval records, but I do not even have his SS#.

There's no one who can provide his SSN? If you can somehow get it, you can submit a request to the place where military records are stored. I don't have the address handy right now, but it is easy to ask for. Keep in mind, however, that there was a big fire where the records are stored, and many were destroyed. When I got my dad's records, there are actually some pages with burnt marks. Pete

Thank you Chief, nope, I'm the last one of his children. Everyone is gone.

I do have my birth certificate with Mother and Father's name on it, so maybe the V.A. could help. I wonder if the cemetery would have it with burial records. I do have one of those "Ancestry.com" printouts that my daughter drafted up for me when my twin brother died in 2019.

I liked the part where your uncle described the nurse as a "nurse retread." :costumed-smiley-034

I'm an old part timer CRNA at 67 y.o., I'll keep looking around.

Yes, my uncle did indeed have a great sense of humor. Speaking of Ancestry website, I had submitted my DNA to them about a year ago, but I am just now really digging into it. I can just about guarantee you should be able to locate birth, death, marriage records very quick, if you sign up to their service for even one month. NC

Pictures of my Uncle Bob (Capt. R.O. Jackson)., plus one of him with his wife, my Aunt Sally. NC

He was a newly Commissioned Ensign in these pictures.

Thanks for the link as well, as a veteran I knew I could look this info up just never pursued it for family members. I have my Marine maternal grandfather I was trying to get units/stations for as my Uncle mentioned he worked on F4Us. My Uncle does have a trunk of items in storage, I just have not been able to coordinate going through yet (just need unit or even MOS I can start researching). I had a plan to custom paint my Harley as a squadron aircraft once I found that out. Found some things through genealogy.
