• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

  • Server side Maintenance is done. We still have an update to the forum software to run but that one will have to wait for a better time.

Anybody else going to contribute so we don't lose soh?

I did it the third time yesterday...

(This is no pissing contest!)

Cees

I know Cees. That is what (Dangerous)Dave already explained earlier. The number of unique donators is dropping, but those who donate do this often more than once.

As I already wrote in an other forum, in the past this was the place where common members met the developers. Over the years we have lost a lot of members and a lot of developers. When you look at the average age, you have to be realistic, that we will loose many members in the future.

I really don't see a youngster of 16 digging up his father's (or grandfather's) CFS2 disks and start a career in CFS2. And when you arrive in Flight simming for the first time, you won't start with FS8 or FS9.
The arrival of MSFS brought some new interest in Flight simming, but to be honest I think the majority of the people in the forum just migrated from the FSX of FS9 forums.

Dave did what he could at the cost side and we already cut costs were possible. In general a lot of things already have become more expensive and without doubt, the costs to run a site like Sim-Outhouse will become more expensive in the future as well.

So this is where we arrived, we will need more money generated by a shrinking community, when we want to keep the Sim-Outhouse.

And I definitely share your disappointment, when I see people who are able to invest in high-end hardware, software and payware, who are very active on this site, but simply refuse to spend some money on the place where they hang out daily.

Just put in another small donation. I just got my taxes done today and I'm getting a refund. I added $13 to that to make an even $15 donation!:playful:

Most of my donation fund is going to support the Ukrainian people at the moment but I found a bit extra to keep the doors open.

I've been hanging around here since CFS2 days and would hate to see it close.

I can see that the costs of running the server have been met already, but have pitched in also again - been busy so didn't see the new drive for funds until this morning!
