My Krzysztof Malinowski/AF Scrub PB4Y2 Privateer as an AI will not hold altitude and speed.

I start it at 8000 feet and kick the speed up to 230 knots in MB and it absolutely will not hold altitude and slowly drops into the sea in about 25 miles and 90 knots.

Should I just change to the stock B-24 with Privateer skins?

Yeppers, it is the Privateer. The stock B-24 does just fine, holding altitude and speed.

Allen,
You are way above my skill levels when speaking of air files.

I have AirEd on my computer and have made changes to P-38 air files for correcting fuel capacities.

That is the extent of my capabilities.

I opened the Privateer's air file but did not see anything to change.
But then, it is like playing blackjack or poker in Vegas, one has to know what they are doing.
There is no such thing as "dumb luck".............:dizzy:

a couple things to look at.

entry 1001.

the inertia values. AIs don't like high ones.

but that might not be it.

check entry 1203
that is the auto pilot. this can effect how the AI land and do other things.

I forget what the setting should be. that a look at the AI in CK's ETO install. I would only adjust those entries to match.

the last place to look would be 1101 which is the flight dynamics. there might something there as well. start with that and see what you get. do small adjustments to one area then move on.

best I can do without looking at it.

Devildog73,

The original incarnation of David Copley's P-38j Lightning which Morton converted had very similar issues of the AI not keeping pace. I ended up contacting Pen32Win, and apparently he traced the issue to unnecessary FS9 elements in the CFS2 airfile. Would you be able to verify the size of the airfile?

The average "authentic" CFS2 airfile should be about 4-5 kb.

Devildog73,

If you like, I can send you the revised P-38 airfile for the DCC Lightning so you can have a contrasting airfile to compare against.

Lee,

I made a mistake. It's the aircraft.cfg that should be 4-5 kilobytes, not the airfile. :banghead:

It should work for an AI .air file as the PB4Y2 and the B-24 are just about the same but for the PB4Y2 has a single large tail fin.

I renamed the stock B-24 air file and put it in the PBY4 and it flies straight and level like it should.

On to the next missions...........
