Way back in 1972, I backpacked through parts of Germany, Italy, and Spain. It was just before I joined the Navy; the summer before, in fact. Back then it was cheap to travel, and I stayed at youth hostels for less than 10 bucks a night.
My parents knew someone who was stationed at Hahn AFB. He was a USAF doctor; Col. Calvert. I visited/stayed with them at Hahn. I think at the time Hahn had F-4 Phantoms. It is no longer a USAF base, having ceased almost all of US military ops there in 1993.
I recently downloaded a FSX AFCAD file for Frankfurt-Hahn airport. But wondered if anyone here had been to Hahn AFB when it was still operational.
