Anyone familiar with Bear Studios MiG-17?

KC013

SOH-CM-2024
I just purchased the above and wanted some different liveries. Two that I downloaded refer to the following models: model=F1970s / model=J51970s.

These do not exist within my download. The download was "MiG17SP5_1205.exe". Any advice is welcome.

Your downloads are for the FS2004 version of the Mig-17PF. Those models do not exist in the FSX version.

I have both versions and if I recall I decided not to import those textures over to FSX because of the missing models.

I shouldn't admit it, but I searched out a bootleg earlier version and the install includes ALL of the models vs only a few in the legit purchase. The pirated install file is quite a bit larger. I feel like i was ripped off for being honest and purchasing the MiG........

PS Those models are also missing in the current FS2004 install.

You can try and contact the distributer and see if they will offer a refund. But always and use paypal for this exact reason. However, you can convert them over to FSX, but will require effort.

This link here makes it seem it is for FSX, ask the distributer if it is possible to get a refund so you can get the correct version. If your still bummed I have a few planes that could possibly make your day better. I have no shame in helping people access vaporware.

I did pay with PayPal and it was the one that you link above. Interestingly, several liveries shown there are not included.

Look at the files and make sure the texture files are there and look at the aircraft.cfg. If the plane is not showing up, I believe the panel is usually not compatible with fsx.

I did look, the model files in the pirated version are not included in the version being sold by Just Flight. All of the uploaded liveries I have found refer exactly to the file structure of the pirated version which is an earlier version. The pirate version is also quite a bit larger as it includes all of the model files referenced by the livery downloads.

I spent some time yesterday bringing over my addon textures from FS9 to the FSX version. Seemed like an easier solution than running both versions in FSX.

There was some analysis involved in resolving the issue of different/missing models. I compared the default aircraft entries between the two sims, for example, and noted the textures for model=1970s in FS9 is now model=PAF for FSX.

When you all are done, perhaps someone can tell me how to shut off the beeping sounds. I still haven't figured out if they're signals for ILS, beacon or ADF or whatever, but I cannot find any on/off or volume control to quiet them.

Looks like I'll be doing some more reading on the Bear Studios forum this morning as well.
