Anyone planning a Convair 880?

Navy Chief, I fear not at the moment. There were efforts to get the designers at Capt Sim to take it on but no luck. Never know what JF might come up with but then again any model would have to be from the ground up to have a VC and not just a model and a VC. I have tried the HJG model but I just can't do 2D panels so I parked it for a future date and as there is not internal model you cannot graft another VC into it alas.

Heres hoping!

Played with the thought of doing one more than once, but the aircraft was ultimately just too much of a dud in every regard (but cruise speed) to justify priority over other projects.

The Cal Classic 580 has been a favorite of mine for years. I have been able to get it to work fairly well in Prepar3D although it seems there are some starting issues with V3.3. Never tried it in FSX. There are some excellent sound packages and texture sets available as well.

There's this one at Flightsim this morning ... don't know how good it is though ....

FSX Update For The FS2002 Convair 880. The 880 has broken many speed records. Unfortunately, the 880 saw little sales success and only 65 were built. Some of the airlines that flew the 880 were Alaska, Delta, Northeast, TWA, Japan, and Cathay Pacific. The last of the major airlines stopped flying the 880 in 1974. This is an FSX update for the FS2002 model by Rey Lopez featuring both an enhanced VC and 2D panel as well as compatible smoke effect. Thanks to Rey Lopez for the nice model, enhanced VC and 2D panels, new gauge configuration and smoke effect by Michael Pook.

That was actually what prompted my post. I didn't download it though. I actually flew in one once as a boy. It was quite impressive! NC

Might want to clean your glasses as this this thread is about the 880, not 580. *Ahem*

Well had a look at the one which is now on Flightsim but alas it is, well to be charitable, rough. Looks all wrong visually and as for the VC, points for trying though.

Yes - worlds a lot clearer with cleaned glasses - a good plug for the 580 in any case.
Thanks Bjoern

The model hails from FS2002 days. Back in the day, having a VC available at all was a bit of a highlight.
