• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

Was despatched on the 16th. Arrived today.

Sorry about my first post being a request for help, but here goes.

After installing CFS3 and patching to 3.1. I then inserted OFF disk and followed install procedure. Everything was ok until it tried to install OFF manager. After a while I got the following error:

An error occured trying to copy a file:
Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

I have re-installed CFS3 and patched to 3.1 again, but with the same error.

My disk is fine. Done a complete de-frag and registry clean with reg mechanic too.

Not sure where to go from her. Any help would be much appreciated.

EDIT: Running Vista 32
 
Some of the DVD's are duff apparently, you'll most likely need a replacement.

Have you tried copying the files directly to the hard-drive?

No, I'll try doing that now. Thanks.

Please God i don't have a duff one. It has killed me waiting this long already.:faint:
 
I've found that sometimes a disc will have a borderline sector that the laser can't quite read, and blowing into the open slot behind the tray or running a cleaning-disc through it gets it over the hump, so to speak. All desperate measures, but I suspect you won't flinch from trying every possibility. ;)

After installing CFS3 and patching to 3.1 - YOU MUST THEN PLAY CFS3 AND FLY A MISSION FOR A FEW SECONDS- then inserted OFF dis and followed install procedure.

Please note what was missing from your report of what you did.
The reason you have to play CFS3 for a little while before installing oFF is that certain files are sent to the registry when you play CFS3 for this little while.

P>S Pardon the capitals but that part is very important.

I have a feeling that is the problem with your install.

thats a step we have seen missed countless times and easy to do.

off needs the files cfs-3 puts on your hd in order to install properly

I've started a mission (crashed on take off, I assume that's all I need to do)
But still get the same error.

I was really hoping that would solve my problem too. Thanks all the same :)

EDIT: No luck with copying the disk to my hard disk either.

Please note ... there is no need to play stock CFS3 before instaling OFF BHAH. That is an old P2 requirement.
