Yes, I remember the Aurora kit and I am really old too. I am not crazy about most of them dang eggbeaters, but this one was interesting. Nice kit
with sliding doors and gears to synchronize the rotors. Now I can try flying one!

Besides model airplanes, Aurora made models of just about everything that moved.
 
Downloaded but haven't had time to install or try the model. However, I can vouch for the N556D civilian paint - I photographed it and had a long chat with the owner (at the time) in southern Washington during a trip south - in Sept. '99

Bit before my time ..... but, sadly, only a little bit!

IIRC they are from that era when the models were made to fit the box, so scales were all over the place. I picked up a Lindberg (I think) kit of the De Havilland Venom a (good) few years back that came out at about 1/56th scale; basic shape was fine, bit light on details (you know, little things like wheel wells) but with a bit of work, plastic card and sprue produced a surprisingly decent model - that was, of course, in the days before resin conversions, white metal seats and brass detailing sets when you actually had to do do the work yourself!! :wiggle:
 
Woo-HOOO !!!

This one's been on my most wanted list for a long time! Ever since that nice FS2000 model (or was it FS2002?) lost its rotors in FS9.

Winter's coming and my winter project is to reconstruct "FS1954," and this model will help motivate me.
