ATC South Atlantic Route Scenery

Just a "heads up" to mention that I have uploaded an Air Transport Command South Atlantic Route scenery for FS2004. It should be available in the "Uploads" section soon. Works in Silver Wings and default FS9. In Golden Wings, not so much.

Fifteen AFCADs for fields from Florida to Africa. KPBI, TJBQ, TTWF, SYCJ, SBAM, SBBE, SBSL, SBFZ, SBNT, SBRF, FHAW, DGAA, GLRB, GFHA and GORF (old Dakar) plus AI traffic files and nine AI birds in early and late WWII paints. Briefing notes including WWII-style approach charts, too. It uses a lot of scenery objects by CalClassic and other freeware scenery object libraries.

Oh, and by the way: Yes, there really is a fair-sized hill right beside the runway at Ascension Island, despite what FS9 thinks.

Cheers,

Glenn

Wow, thanks sir. . .I'll be looking for it. Sounds like it could be a lot of fun. . .something entirely new and different.:applause:

Got it. I'll give a go after work today. Thanks again for all the hard work on this. . .sounds great!!

Wow, can't believe you did all this scenery. :applause: This is great! I planned out and flew a commemorative flight over a few weeks retracing the route dad flew in a B-26 Marauder around mid 1944. I don't recognize all the airport codes but assume this was essentially the same path. Some 10,000 miles from Florida to South America, Africa then Lands End, England. I also learned that several of his scrapbook pictures were taken during this epic journey.
I mainly referenced a book called Wings of Courage by J. Stovall for the details. A great read anytime. Thanks for your dedication Glenn, I can't wait to do it all again with the new scenery.

i dl'd this..havent installed it yet...but thanks in advance..this will be fun to fly..been looking for something like this for a long time

Thanks, guys...Glad you like it.
Cheers, Glenn
I meant to get back with you on this Glenn, but I was never able to get it to work. I did all the installations as described but when I tried to launch from the first airport in Florida it would lock up. To be more specific, every time I would attempt to make a change, either in weather or time of day which required a move from the main screen to make changes it would lock up. It's possible that if I had not tried that it may have continued to work, but the possibility of a lock up at some point was apparently always there waiting to happen.

I have uninstalled the program for now and when time permits, I may go back and try it again but for now I've had to remove it.

Hey Ozbeowulf, what does this file/flightplan have against GoldenWings? I have FS9 and GW3. Should I install SilverWings as well? My FS9 is pretty current time wise. This install harkens to an earlier time. Please advise. I'm a Realtor (TM), so go easy on me .

Hi, Dandog...

ATC43 and GW3 don't play well together. So far, the best guess is that the major texture changes in GW3 are incompatible... or ATC43 is incompatible with GW3, take your pick. Since you mentioned Silver Wings, I'll 'fess up that my Silver Wings installation was where I developed ATC43, but I tested the download package by installing it in my FS9 installation. As you said, the FS9/1943 combination doesn't fit well. My biased opinion is that if you fly in the WWII era, a Silver Wings installation is a good idea, as long as you have the HDD space.

This problem came up in this CalClassic forum thread.

http://calclassic.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=948&page=1

On page 1 of the thread, Chris_c lists the problems he had re ATC43 and GW3 and low on page 2 he tells of how he found the fix for SBRF, at any rate.

Apologies for the delay in responding. I've been away dealing with a family emergency and just got home.

Cheers,

Glenn
