to disable the Flash plugin. In Google Chrome, type 'chrome://plugins' into the address bar and hit Enter. Find the entry for Flash and click disable.

Firefox users need to click 'Add-ons' in the browser menu and disable Shockwave Flash on the Plugins tab.

Internet Explorer users should click 'Tools > Manage Add-ons' and disable Shockwave Flash Object in the All Add-ons list.

The steps need to be taken for each Web browser a user has installed.
 
here is what else i did

go to control panel and click Flash Player (see pic's)

OT In IE11 if I have Flash enabled then any YT videos tend to crash 1/2 way through with the grey exclamation mark. Disabled and they work fine. In Chrome I do not have this issue. Stupid MS. :encouragement:
 
These are all connected incidents, and they all have a common demoniator. The Google fiasco is another example of these increasingly invasive intrusions becoming the norm. The frightening aspect of this cyber warfare is that most of the successful hits go un-noticed.

I would speculate that the NYSE shutdown today was not a glitch, but rather a response to todays plunge at the Hang Seng Index. Expect more as the Euro/Grexit situation intensifies and the unraveling spreads to other European markets.

Cyber attacks will undoubtedly become more frequent and blamed on various "nefarious" entities i.e. "Anonymous", when in reality the perpetrators are most certainly of a more institutional origin. Behind the scenes the pings will be fast and furious as governments, data mining bots, intelligence apparatus and professional hackers conduct their covert business amid the accelerating instability.

IMHO it would be prudent to back up/encrypt vital data and take aggressive measures to insulate your servers.

I don't dispute the incredible level of hacking going on; one only needs to look at Ickie's records of them and wonder at the probes.
We do, however, need to remember that much of the hardware and software being used today is not new and is subject to failure quite without outside intervention. Sometimes a burned out bulb is just a burned out bulb. It is also worth noting where these pieces of hard and software are made.

I agree. Undoubtedly "designed obsolescence" is a contributor. I personally own many thousands of dollars worth of hardware and software that simply won't operate on current systems. The equipment is in perfect condition, but not supported.

Your last point, however, is most insightful.
 
So the BBC says in it's article that the latest version is 18.0.0.194. Mine has 18.0.0.203, which assuming they go up incrementally mine is even newer? 203 also happens to be the version Ickie just posted a link to so I guess I'm good... for this month anyway. There really needs to be an emoticon that has his head buried in his hands or tearing his hair out or something --->

Good thing I keep Flash Player off as it makes a good way of shuting down some adds.
 
Yep - Lots of Flash holes...
I believe this is but one reason why Apple chose not to incorporate Flash...
